Buffalo's Josh Allen became the first quarterback to finish as the No. 1 fantasy quarterback in back-to-back seasons since Drew Brees in 2011 and 2012. Allen has thrown for at least 4,400 yards and 36 touchdowns in each of the last two seasons while also adding nearly 1,200 total rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. With Allen still being just 26 years old, it makes sense that he would still be looked at as the top fantasy quarterback headed into 2022 and there's even reason to believe that we may not have seen his best form quite yet.
Even though he took a bit of a step back in overall passing production from 2020 to 2021, the only real significant difference that we saw was in the interceptions department which saw him go from 10 in 2020 to 12 in 2021. Sure, his yards per attempt were lower as well, but that number was still higher than in either of his first two seasons in the league.
The one thing that we really have to love about Allen is that his athleticism isn't hampered by his size. At 6'5" and 237 lbs, he's significantly larger than the other more athletic quarterbacks like Kyler Murray, Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts. This allows him to withstand more impact on hits from defenders (and even run over those defenders from time to time), reducing his relative risk of being injured. Allen is like Cam Newton as a runner, with much better box-stuffing numbers as a passer.
While Allen's weapons have taken a bit of a hit this offseason, losing both Emmanuel Sanders and Cole Beasley, the late-season emergence of Gabriel Davis along with the continued elite play of Stefon Diggs should give fantasy managers all the confidence they need to select Allen first among quarterbacks in drafts.

Josh Allen not expected to go under the knife Elbow injury nagged him for second half of regular season By: Doug Orth | Tue Jan 24, 4:50 pm

| | Brandon Beane says "I think we're good there" as far as Josh Allen not planning to have offseason surgery on his right elbow. Allen said yesterday plan for elbow revolves around rest. (Katherine Fitzgerald on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Allen suggested Monday that his mechanics and throwing motion were affected by the Week 9 injury until the end of the regular season. Considering he seems to be pain-free right now - he told reporters he was back to his old mechanics and throwing motion about two weeks ago on Monday - he should be in great shape for the offseason and training camp. Allen figures to be the top quarterback off fantasy draft boards in most leagues again this offseason.

| Josh Allen dealt with nagging elbow discomfort Week 9 injury changed throwing motion until end of season By: Doug Orth | Mon Jan 23, 6:00 pm

| | Josh Allen said that it was just two weeks ago when he felt like he was able to get back to the mechanics/throwing motion he likes due to his right elbow injury. Had to adapt it due to the injury. (ESPN.com - Alaina Getzenberg)
FFToday's Take: Allen appeared on the injury report from Week 10 through last week, so this news should not come as a complete shock. There was some thought a month or so ago that Allen's turnover woes were the product of this injury, but that notion seemed to be refuted by the fact that his regular-season production in 2022 was nearly identical to his numbers from 2021. It should be a complete non-issue by the time OTAs start this spring. Allen figures to be the first quarterback off the board in fantasy drafts quite often again in 2023.

| Browns, Bills Week 11 game moved to Detroit Monster snow storm expected in Buffalo By: Mike Krueger | Thu Nov 17, 4:13 pm

| | The NFL has officially moved the #Browns #Bills game from Buffalo to Detroit. It will still be played at 1 pm. (James Palmer on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Any weather concerns you had for Josh Allen and company or Jacoby Brissett and company have been put to rest. Carry on...

| Josh Allen expected to be active in Week 10 Will he start? By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 13, 7:10 am

| | Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen will be active Sunday despite his ulnar collateral ligament injury and the belief is he will start against the Minnesota Vikings, sources told ESPN on Saturday. Bills officials, however, have been tight-lipped all week and have declined to reveal who is starting and want to keep it secret until after Sunday's NFL actives/inactives list is released at 11:30 a.m. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The Bills have been keeping this decision close to the vest all week. It's telling that they did not call up a quarterback from the practice squad leaving Allen and Case Keenum as the only two quarterbacks on the gameday roster. It sounds like Allen is going to play and if he's on the field, he should be in your lineup.

| Josh Allen limited Friday, listed as Questionable Elbow issue By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 11, 3:01 pm

| | Josh Allen was limited on Friday, and did not have the same sleeve after practice as we saw on Wednesday and Thursday.
The questionable tag will keep everyone, Vikings included, guessing until the 11:30am inactives come out. (Joe Buscaglia on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The Bills and Vikings play early Sunday so we'll have a good read on Allen's status likely late Saturday night or Sunday morning. If Allen doesn't go, Case Keenum would get the start. The Vikings have given up the 9th most fantasy points to quarterbacks.

| Josh Allen expected to be limited this week Sprained right elbow By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 9, 7:10 am

| | From @GMFB: #Bills QB Josh Allen is dealing with a sprained right elbow, sources say, a UCL injury that will limit him this week. While it’s no sure thing that Allen plays vs the #Vikings, belief is it’s an injury he can manage moving forward. How he responds this week is key. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: It sounds like he'll be labeled as a gametime decision but this is a situation we'll be monitoring closely throughout the week. Case Keenum would get the start if Allen is unable to go.

| Josh Allen awaiting news on elbow injury Possible but likely minor UCL injury By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 7, 6:00 pm

| | Bills QB Josh Allen is being evaluated for an elbow injury to his ulnar collateral ligament and related nerves, per source. Bills HC Sean McDermott said earlier team hopes to have more info Tuesday. (ESPN - Chris Mortenson)
FFToday's Take: ESPN injury analyst Stephania Bell appears to second the diagnosis here. Allen suffered the injury late but still uncorked a deep throw that traveled about 70 yards in the air minutes later. It appears Allen dodged a major injury here, but we will have to wait for the Bills to update us, which will likely happen sometime Tuesday afternoon. Case Keenum would get the nod if he needs to miss time and would be a middling QB2 option.
