Every Batman needs a sidekick, so can Valdes-Scantling be Robin for Devante Adams? If last year's rookie numbers are any indication, this could be the next great Green Bay dynamic duo.

A raw 5th round rookie from South Florida, MVS has speed to burn, and uncoachable height. With the departure of Jordy Nelson, the decline of Randall Cobb, and injury to Geronimo Allison, Valdes-Scantling was probably thrust into a bigger role than the Packers expected, but he responded positively, playing in all 16 games and putting up a solid 38-581-2 line on 73 targets. Sure, the near 50% catch rate isn't ideal, but Valdes-Scantling certainly flashed in a mid-season 4-game stretch that saw him go over 60 yards three times, hit the century mark twice, and score two touchdowns. He faded a little down the stretch before a decent finish, but all-in-all in was an impressive rookie season.

With another year under his belt, and the continued development with Rodgers, MVS has a chance to be a much bigger fantasy player in 2019. With the No.2 outside receiver position his to lose opposite Adams, he should see plenty of single coverage. If he can learn to play to his strengths and build on his route tree, Valdes-Scantling is worth significant draft capital. He's got great upside in an offense run by Rodgers, and should approach WR3 numbers, with a chance to have some big weeks. With a strong camp his ADP should rise into the single digits.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling making strides
QB pleased with second-year WR's development
By: Doug Orth | Thu Jul 25, 10:50 pm

Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling has "really jumped out" since spring practices, according to QB Aaron Rodgers. "There's a big difference between a guy who can time fast and play fast. And playing fast is where the confidence comes," Rodgers told James Jones of NFL Network. (NFL Network)

FFToday's Take: Valdes-Scantling flashed almost immediately after Geronimo Allison was lost for the season, but Rodgers seemed to ignore him for a long stretch near the end of the season. Even if Allison grabs the slot role as expected in 2019, MVS has legitimate WR3 upside in fantasy as a field-stretcher who won't see much safety help working opposite Davante Adams.

Geronimo Allison to fill slot role in GB offense
Allison, MVS are upside targets in the middle rounds
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Jul 23, 7:23 pm

Green Bay Packers
Receiver Geronimo Allison reports for his fourth NFL training camp but his first where he's main focus will be playing in the slot. "I like it," Allison said. "Coming in, I've always been that utility guy, that versatile guy to kind of move around. I'm loving it. I'm getting comfortable inside and outside, and I'm going to make the most of every opportunity." (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Allison and Marquez Valdes-Scantling have been mid-round upside fliers in early fantasy drafts. Both are expected to start in three-wide receiver sets but it sounds like Allison will be the main man in the slot position with Davante Adams and MVS outside. We should get a better idea of how new head coach Matt LaFleur's offense will look once pre-season games begin.

Geronimo Allison a good fit in new offense?
Davante Adams says Allison could be "dangerous" under Matt LaFleur
By: Doug Orth | Thu Jul 4, 10:40 pm

Green Bay Packers
Davante Adams thinks that will suit his teammate Geronimo Allison well. “He’s the guy who’s been working a lot in the slot, and he’s used to playing a little more outside, but this is making him a little more dynamic,” Adams said, via the team’s website. “I think Matt has really tested him or challenged him to widen it out so he can play multiple spots. . . . Him being able to move around right now and be healthy, be himself and just play, being able to have all those things, it’s going to be dangerous.” (Pro Football Talk - Josh Alper)

FFToday's Take: For anyone who's been following the coverage coming out of Green Bay this offseason, Adams is set to see more targets, Marquez Valdes-Scantling had a "fantastic" spring and even Trevor Davis has wowed the new staff. Now this. It's obviously going to be a stretch for all three receivers to live up to their press clippings. Valdes-Scantling seems like he should be the favorite, but training camp and preseason action figures to determine who will be Adams' sidekick.
