Since entering the NFL in 2018, Chubb has never finished worse than 15th overall in non-ppr scoring, providing fantasy owners with a rock solid RB1 over the last four years. As a near lock for double digit touchdowns and almost 1500 total yards, Chubb has a chance to be even better in 2023. With Kareem Hunt gone in free agency and only late round picks sharing the running back room, Chubb has a real chance to threaten his career high 329 touches from last season. With Watson more comfortable, the offense should move at a much quicker pace, and red zone scoring should increase after Chubb had the 9th most red zone carries in 2022. Chubb is never going to catch a boat-load of passes, so his PPR value is diminished, but there aren't many backs in the NFL that offer Chubb's weekly consistency, and week-winning upside.

Browns bring in Kareem Hunt, one-year deal Depth piece with Nick Chubb out for the year By: Mike Krueger | Wed Sep 20, 10:46 am

| | Reunion: The #Browns and veteran RB Kareem Hunt have agreed to terms on a one-year deal, per source.
Hunt scored 23 TDs over the past four seasons in Cleveland. Now he’s back - and figures to have a lot of opportunities after Nick Chubb’s season-ending injury. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: HC Kevin Stefanski already stated that Jerome Ford will be the team's lead back so Hunt will likely slide into the No.2 RB role now that Nick Chubb (knee) is out for the year. Hunt wasn't effective last season (3.8 ypc) but does give the Browns some depth at the position. Ford is projecting like an RB2 moving forward.

| Nick Chubb done for the year HC Kevin Stefanski: "Significant" knee injury By: Doug Orth | Tue Sep 19, 12:20 am

| | Coach Kevin Stefanski confirms that Nick Chubb is done for the season with a significant knee injury. Awful. (NFL Network - Ian Rapoport)
FFToday's Take: The injury was gruesome enough that the telecast did not want to replay it. There is a distinct possibility Chubb is in the hospital as we speak to make sure all he did was suffer multiple torn ligaments; it was that bad. Without question, this is an injury that could have a significant impact on his ability to play - and certainly, play up to his standard - again. Jerome Ford showed well after his departure and stands to be a highly sought-after waiver-wire addition over the next few days. While it is likely the team will add someone over the next day or two, this figures to be Ford's show until further notice.

| Amari Cooper to give it a go on Monday night Listed as questionable after late-week groin tweak By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 18, 7:10 pm

| | Source: #Browns WR Amari Cooper, who tweaked his groin this weekend in practice and was listed as questionable, will be active tonight vs. the #Steelers. A big lift. (NFL Network - Ian Rapoport)
FFToday's Take: There seems to be no hint of how serious of a tweak Cooper suffered, but it is safe to assume he will be far less than 100 percent and could even end up being a decoy. Elijah Moore and David Njoku figure to be more active as a result, while Nick Chubb could be heavily featured against a Pittsburgh defense that got gashed by Christian McCaffrey in Week 1. Moore should be a strong WR3 option at worst, while Njoku should have TE1 upside. Chubb, of course, should be started everywhere.

| Patriots ship RB Pierre Strong Jr. to Cleveland Get OT Tyrone Wheatley Jr. in return By: Mike Krueger | Sun Aug 27, 11:32 am

| | In a depth-based trade, the Patriots have shipped backup RB Pierre Strong Jr. to the Browns for OT Tyrone Wheatley Jr. (as
@RapSheet said).
Wheatley is a developmental/depth tackle with plus size/strength (6-6, 320).
Strong projected as No. 3-4 option behind Rhamondre/Zeke. (Mike Reiss on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Strong lost the majority of his fantasy value when New England signed Ezekiel Elliott as a backup to Rhamondre Stevenson. The Browns needed depth at running back position with only Jerome Ford (hamstring) as the projected backup to Nick Chubb. Strong is a player to watch if he's able to wrestle away the No.2 job from Ford.

| Jerome Ford injures hamstring Likely backup to Nick Chubb goes down Monday By: Doug Orth | Mon Aug 7, 6:40 pm

| | The Browns weren't able to escape Monday's full-contact practice in the rain without getting an injury scare. This one was to a key piece of their running back rotation behind Nick Chubb. Jerome Ford hobbled off the field after a play with an injury to his right leg. After sitting down on the sideline with a trainer for a moment, he limped into the team facility. The injury was later confirmed as a hamstring issue following practice. (Akron Beacon Journal)
FFToday's Take: There is no word on the severity of the injury yet, but we can expect Ford to miss a few practices at very least. Assuming the injury is minor and Ford can return in a week or two, Ford should be considered a high-priority handcuff for Nick Chubb managers. While he may not inherit the same role Kareem Hunt held in recent years for the Browns, Ford should see enough touches to push for flex value as a standalone option.
