It seems injury was the only thing stopping Chubb, as his string of elite RB1 seasons came to an early end in 2023. Off to another eye-popping start with a 6.1 yards-per-carry average in his first 28 attempts, Chubb suffered a gruesome knee injury in Week 2. No stranger to such setbacks as he suffered something similar in college, Chubb nonetheless is deep into another lengthy and complicated rehab. Career-ending if not for modern medicine, Chubb is the heart and soul of this team, and while there remains no specific timetable for his return, there are few players more equipped to handle the physical and mental toll of the rehab process. If he can manage to avoid the PUP list and participate in some of camp that would be a tremendous sign, but I look for Cleveland to be very patient with his return. It will take some time for the power and explosion to truly return, but he's most certainly worth the early season stash with an eye on the 2nd half.

Nick Chubb suffers broken foot in Week 15 Out for the remainder of the season By: Mike Krueger | Sun Dec 15, 5:40 pm
| | Nick Chubb hobbled out of Huntington Bank Field on crutches and in a left walking boot, and coach Kevin Stefanski announced in his postgame press conference shortly thereafter that Chubb had suffered a season-ending broken foot in the third quarter of Sunday’s 21-7 loss to the Chiefs. (Mary Kay Cabot)
FFToday's Take: Another bad injury for Chubb who will miss the remainder of the season with a broken foot. Expect Jerome Ford to take over lead back duties but D'Onta Foreman - who has been a healthy scratch the last few weeks - should be in the mix as well. The Browns should use both backs in a timeshare for the remaining few games.
| Jerome Ford likely to miss multiple weeks Suffered hamstring injury early in Week 6 By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 14, 3:40 pm
| | Browns RB Jerome Ford will be week to week with his hamstring injury, HC Kevin Stefanski said. (ESPN.com - Daniel Oyefusi)
FFToday's Take: As luck would have it, reports began to surface over the weekend that Nick Chubb (knee) is set to return. While it would be irresponsible for the Browns to throw him right back into a featured role, the possibility exists for Week 7 or Week 8 if Ford misses that much time. In all likelihood, Chubb will probably lead the backfield over the next month before Cleveland attempts to have him assume a heavier workload sometime in November.
| Nick Chubb inching closer to a return Browns plan to open RB's 21-day practice window By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 30, 5:00 pm
| | Browns HC Kevin Stefanski said the team is opening the practice window for RB Nick Chubb. (ESPN - Adam Schefter)
FFToday's Take: Chubb suffered what was thought to be a potential career-ending injury in Week 2 of last season, so it is great news that he appears to have a legitimate shot at contributing to the team at some point before midseason. Expectations obviously need to be tempered based on the seriousness of his injury and the time he has missed, but he has a chance to return RB2 value if he can come reasonably close to picking up where he left off. Of course, that assumes the offensive line gets healthy at some point as well. Jerome Ford will continue to do most of the heavy lifting in Cleveland until Chubb is ready.
