| Dalvin Cook limited on Thursday|
Vikings RB says he expects to play
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Sep 30, 4:45 pm
|Limited in practice today for the #Vikings were RB Dalvin Cook (ankle), linebacker Anthony Barr (knee), tight end Tyler Conklin (glute, elbow), kicker Greg Joseph (hip) and nose tackle Michael Pierce (elbow, shoulder). Tackle Christian Darrisaw again full participant. (Chris Tomasson on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Cook has two straight limited sessions after missing last week with a sprained ankle. It appears he's trending towards playing this week against the Browns and should return to his normal workload.
| Irv Smith likely out for the season, knee surgery|
4-5 month recovery timetable
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Sep 1, 11:44 am
|Minnesota Vikings tight end Irv Smith Jr. underwent surgery to repair his meniscus Wednesday morning and is likely to miss the season based on the 4-5 month recovery timetable, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

FFToday's Take: Smith had some upside value in fantasy drafts this Summer after the departure of Kyle Rudolph, but can now be crossed off your cheatsheet. The Vikings worked a trade with the Jets yesterday to acquire the under-achieving Chris Herndon who needed a change of scenery. Even with Tyler Conklin (hamstring) likely to see a bump in targets, fantasy owners can avoid the Vikings TE position for now.
| Irv Smith expected to undergo surgery for meniscus injury|
Timeline unclear but likely won't be ready for Week 1
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Aug 28, 2:12 pm
|#Vikings starting TE Irv Smith Jr. is expected to undergo surgery for a meniscus injury that will sideline him for at least the start of the regular season, per sources.
Exact timetable TBD for now, but Smith seemed poised for a breakout season and now it’s on hold. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: It sounds like Irv could miss the early part of the regular season but we should get a clearer timeline in the coming days. With so many late-round tight ends available, it's easy to avoid drafting him for now. Tyler Conklin is next up on the Vikings tight end depth chart.
