| Panthers place Cam Newton on IR|
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Nov 5, 1:32 pm
|The Panthers have placed Cam Newton on injured reserve. From Marty Hurney: For the past seven weeks, Cam has diligently followed a program of rest and rehab and still is experiencing pain in his foot. He saw two foot specialists last week who agreed that he should continue that path prescribed by the team’s medical staff, and that it likely will take significant time for the injury to fully heal. We have said all along that it is impossible to put a timetable on this injury. Nobody is more frustrated with that fact than Cam. He’s one of the fiercest competitors I’ve been around during my (time in the NFL). (Jourdan Rodrigue on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Newton played in only two games in 2019 and may be looking for another team in 2020. With age and injuries piling up the Panther could cut or trade Newton without a big hit to the salary cap. Kyle Allen is expected to continue to serve as the starting QB for the remainder of 2019.

No timetable for return as Injury could keep Newton out indefinitely
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Sep 24, 11:12 am
|Joe Person (@josephperson) on Twitter: "With Panthers QB Cam Newton out indefinitely with a Lisfranc injury, per sources, the job could be Kyle Allen's for a while." (Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: This is terrible news for Newton owners and good news for Kyle Allen -- who looked solid in Week 3. Newton could be out 4-8 weeks or more, if they shut him down again. Allen is a priority add if you need a QB and can't grab Daniel Jones -- and could even end up posting better numbers this season than the Giants new QB.
| Cam Newton ruled out for Week 4|
Kyle Allen gets another start
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Sep 23, 11:45 am
|#Panthers now announce that QB Cam Newton is out vs. the #Texans. "We want him at 100 percent when he’s ready, so there’s no exact timetable for his return,” coach Ron Rivera said. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Kyle Allen posted a 261-4-0 line against the Cardinals in Week 3 but will have a more difficult task in Week 4 on road against Houston. Still, the Texans have given up have given up 300-yard passing days to Drew Brees and Philip Rivers through three weeks.
| No practice for Cam Newton on Wednesday|
Looking like Kyle Allen will start in Week 3
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Sep 18, 11:55 am
|No Cam Newton for practice this morning, which is pretty expected. Once a few weeks ago he did come in after the gates were closed, but I don’t imagine that will be the case today. (Jourdan Rodrigue on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Newton aggravated his foot injury in Week 2 and it appears he's going to sit out Week 3. If he does, Kyle Allen will get the start. Newton hasn't looked like himself, rushing for -2 yards in two games and regularly missing open receivers. Allen gets a favorable matchup against a Cardinals defense that's given up the most fantasy points to quarterbacks through two weeks.
