2023 Outlook
Depth Chart
The Giants headed into the 2022 season with a serious question mark at their quarterback position and unfortunately for them, Daniel Jones did just enough to force the team to extend him with a new four-year, $160M contract. Jones did not look great passing the ball, but he finally made an impact from a fantasy standpoint, in large part due to his rushing ability. He finished fifth among QBs with 706 rushing yards while adding seven rushing scores - tied for third-most at the position.

Jones has always been able to provide some production with his legs, but head coach Brian Daboll seems to have a knack for unlocking his quarterbacks. Daboll did it in Buffalo with Josh Allen and it was quite apparent that Jones looked much better in 2022 than he had in his previous seasons. Much of that was driven by his newfound willingness to run. Jones performed well for fantasy, turning in the first top-12 QB season of his career, despite what was probably the worst group of pass-catching weapons he's had.

The Giants did make significant investments in receivers for Jones to throw to this offseason, including bringing in former Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller, as well as wide receiver Parris Campbell. They also drafted Tennessee wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, who caught 15 touchdowns in his final collegiate season, with a third-round pick. This group of receivers lacks a true WR1 and some would argue it even lacks a WR2, but it's certainly deeper and possesses more overall talent than the group Jones had to throw to in 2022.

It'd be tough to expect another 700-yard, seven-rushing-touchdown season from Jones, but he doesn't necessarily even need to maintain quite that level of rushing prowess in order to remain a viable weekly top-12 fantasy QB. Jones barely threw for 200 yards per game and he threw less than one touchdown per game, so it'd be tough for him to be much worse than that was a passer and still keep his starting job. There's plenty of reason to be optimistic that he can make some improvements as a passer and still be a solid fantasy contributor here in 2023.

Injury Giants fear torn ACL for QB Daniel Jones
Tommy DeVito moving forward?
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 5, 7:53 pm

New York Giants
The initial fear is that quarterback Daniel Jones has a torn ACL in his right knee, per sources. MRI coming Monday to determine full extent of the injury but there is concern for a serious injury. (Jordan Raanan on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Giants put Tyrod Taylor on Injured Reserve with a rib injury meaning Tommy DeVito was once again thrust into action. There are no good options here for the Giants. Their passing game was uninspiring against the Raiders as DeVito went 15-of-20 for 175 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs.

Injury Daniel Jones cleared for contact, could play Week 9
Neck injury
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Oct 30, 9:10 am

New York Giants
#Giants QB Daniel Jones has been cleared for contact, as @rydunleavy reported. Jones was examined before yesterday’s game. He’s in line to return to action against the #Raiders. (Mike Garafolo on X)

FFToday's Take: It was reported yesterday that Jones' neck injury has caused weakness in his left arm and he wouldn't be ready until Week 10. But after Tyrod Taylor (ribs) got hurt in the Giants Week 8, game it sounds like Jones could be ready as soon as Week 9 against the Raiders. The stat of the fantasy quarterback situation around the league is ugly, which means Jones is likely to be an option even though he's the QB30 in fantasy points per game after eight weeks.

Injury Daniel Jones Out for Week 8
Tyrod Taylor gets another start for Giants
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 27, 11:37 am

New York Giants
Daboll said Daniel Jones is OUT for Sunday. He was listed as questionable last week. Daboll was non-committal on if Jones will play again this season because he doesn’t have a crystal ball. Daboll said they’ll see where Jones is at next week. (Dan Duggan on X)

FFToday's Take: It's safe to wonder if Jones plays again this season given his neck injury history but for now, it will be Tyrod Taylor making his third start in a row. Taylor is coming off a solid week against the porous Commanders secondary but will have a more difficult task against the Jets-D that's expected to welcome back D.J. Reed and Ahmad Gardner.

Injury Saquon Barkley trending towards playing in Week 6
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Oct 15, 7:00 am

New York Giants
Giants are “optimistic” and “hopeful” that RB Saquon Barkley will play Sunday night after missing the past three games due to a sprained ankle, but also want to make sure there are no setbacks, per sources. But they “feel good about it”, so signs point up. Giants’ TE Darren Waller, listed as questionable for Sunday night due to a groin injury, is expected to play vs. the Bills, per source. Bills’ TE Dawson Knox, listed as questionable for Sunday night due to a wrist injury, is expected to play vs. the Giants, per source (Adam Schefter on X)

FFToday's Take: It looks like we may see Barkley on the field Sunday night but given his gametime status it will be a tricky situation for fantasy owners to navigate. The Giants will be without starting QB Daniel Jones so Barkley would be a welcome addition to the offense. Matt Breida has done very little in Barkley's absence.

Injury Daniel Jones out for Week 6, neck injury
Tyrod Taylor will start for Giants
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 13, 11:32 am

New York Giants
#Giants coach Brian Daboll tells reporters that QB Daniel Jones (neck) is out for Sunday. (Ian Rapoport on X)

FFToday's Take: The Giants will give Tyrod Taylor a shot at running the offense which can't be much worse than it's been the last couple of weeks. Jones has thrown exactly 2 touchdown passes in five games and has only topped 200 passing yards twice. The Bills have allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season.
