After having a breakout season in 2022, Pittman continued to produce in 2023. He finished the year with 156 targets, 109 receptions, and 1152 yards. Pittman only found the endzone four times in each of the last two seasons, but this is not unusual given the Colts' rushing tendencies in the red zone.
Pittman has established himself as an elite target earner in the NFL. He garnered a 30.5 percent target share last year, 4th among WRs. His ability to earn targets sets him up with a similar outlook in 2024. He should see 140-150 targets as the Colts' top option in the passing game. He may see a slight dip in catch rate and raw number of receptions due to a transition from Gardner Minshew to Anthony Richardson. However, his sheer volume should be enough to maintain consistent fantasy production.
Pittman's upside is slightly capped due to his lack of red zone usage. However, his volume will keep him afloat. Pittman is drafted as the WR24 and is arguably one of the safest picks in 2024 drafts.

Josh Downs unlikely to play in Week 13 Considered week-to-week with shoulder injury By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 25, 7:10 pm
| | #Colts WR Josh Downs, who left Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury, is considered week-to-week and is a long-shot to play on Sunday against the #Patriots, source said. But the belief is he did not suffer a major injury. (NFL Network - Ian Rapoport)
FFToday's Take: One major factor in this decision could be the Colts' belief that they can beat the Patriots without Downs. Another factor is that Indy's bye is in Week 14, which should be enough time for most non-major shoulder injuries to heal. Expect the Colts to rely heavily on Jonathan Taylor and Michael Pittman Jr. on the rare occasion Anthony Richardson drops back to pass.
| Michael Pittman Jr. Out for Week 10 Back injury By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 8, 1:06 pm
| | Colts HC Shane Steichen: Michael Pittman Jr. (finger, back) OUT vs. Bills. Did not practice this week. Taking it week to week. Been battling it. It's the back. IR not being considered. (Mike Chappell on X)
FFToday's Take: Pittman has been battling a back injury the last couple weeks and it's no surprise his production has been lacking. Rookie Adonai Mitchell should see his snap rate increase and Josh Downs should be considered the top receiving option against the Bills in Week 10. In this same game, the Bills have ruled out Keon Coleman with a wrist injury.
| Jonathan Taylor expected to play in Week 8 Off the injury report By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 25, 3:49 pm
| | #Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) is officially off the injury report and good to go Sunday vs. Houston.
WRs Josh Downs and Michael Pittman Jr. also will play. (Tom Pelissero on X)
FFToday's Take: Taylor has missed the last three games with a sprained ankle but will make his return in Week 8 against the Texans. There's been no indication of a limited role but the matchup isn't great as the Texans have given up the 4th fewest fantasy points to the position. He's in the RB2 range for this week.
| Joe Flacco will start for the Colts in Week 6 Anthony Richardson will be emergency QB By: Mike Krueger | Sun Oct 13, 11:27 am
| | Sources: Joe Flacco will start for the #Colts today at Tennessee.
Anthony Richardson (oblique) practiced all week and will serve as the emergency No. 3 QB. He could play if needed. But they want to give him another week. So, Flacco gets the ball again. (Tom Pelissero on X)
FFToday's Take: Richardson got in one full practice this week (Thursday) but ultimately the team decided to give him one more week of rest. Flacco at quarterback, gives a bump for Josh Downs and even Michael Pittman Jr. who has decided to try and play through his back injury.
| Michael Pittman Jr. out multiple weeks with back injury Colts injuries are mounting By: Mike Krueger | Wed Oct 9, 5:38 pm
| | Colts WR Michael Pittman Jr. is dealing with a back injury that is now expected to sideline him multiple weeks, per sources. Injured reserve is an option. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: The Colts are dealing with injuries to Anthony Richardson, Jonathan Taylor and now Pittman heading into Week 6. Josh Downs (toe) missed practice on Wednesday, rookie Adonai Mitchell and Alec Pierce are likely to be the top three receivers while Pittman is out. Assuming he plays, and Joe Flacco starts at QB, Downs is an easy WR2 this week against the Titans.
| Anthony Richardson downgraded to Doubtful for Week 5 Joe Flacco expected to start By: Mike Krueger | Sat Oct 5, 1:39 pm
| | The #Colts downgraded Anthony Richardson to doubtful. Joe Flacco in line to start Sunday vs. Jacksonville. (Tom Pelissero on X)
FFToday's Take: Richardson (oblique) got in limited practices all week but he didn't do much on Friday. Flacco at QB gives life to Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs who both saw a 32% target share last week with Flacco playing most of the game. The Jaguars have given up the 5th most fantasy points to receivers this season.
