2021 Outlook
Depth Chart
Shenault displayed a versatile skill set as a rookie in 2020, lining up as a WR, RB, and even took direct snaps as a runner. He posted 58 catches on 79 targets for 600 yards and five scores and added 18 carries for 91 yards, justifying the preseason excitement of some fantasy owners. But much of that "slash" role seems destined for rookie RB Travis Etienne in 2021.

Still, Shenault was reportedly the star of the Jaguars offseason practices and has been working almost exclusively from the slot. That could end up being a good spot for him as D.J. Chark, Marvin Jones, and Phillip Dorsett all battle for snaps out on the perimeter. The boost in skill personnel in Jacksonville figures to limit Shenault's targets, but with a defined role in an improved, more creative offense, with better QB play, he could be looking at a significant jump in production in Year 2. He's a viable WR3 on my board.

Injury D.J. Chark to miss significant time
Fractured ankle early during TNF
By: Doug Orth | Fri Oct 1, 12:20 am

Jacksonville Jaguars
WR D.J. Chark suffered a fractured ankle, source said. Out indefinitely. Just a brutal injury for one of Jacksonville’s best players. (NFL Network - Ian Rapoport)

FFToday's Take: Chark got hurt when he got rolled up on blocking on a run play. There is a strong possibility that he will not play again this season. Laviska Shenault got it going against the Bengals and figures to move into every-week WR3 consideration now that he will be a full-time wideout. Marvin Jones could see the biggest bump, however, as Chark was the only other receiver consistently seeing intermediate and deep targets over the first three games before his dud in this one. Expect Jones to be a strong WR3 option the rest of the way.

Injury Etienne will have foot surgery, placed on IR
Jags lose rookie RB in second pre-season game
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Aug 24, 2:20 pm

Jacksonville Jaguars
Sources: #Jaguars 1st round RB Travis Etienne suffered a significant tear, a serious Lisfranc injury that knocks him out for the next several months and potentially the season. Officially, the timeline is 12 weeks minimum for Travis Etienne. He’ll have surgery as soon as possible and then would have a chance to come back late in the season if all goes well and it makes sense. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Ugh. Etienne will likely go on IR shortly but fantasy owners can go ahead and cross him of their cheatsheets. James Robinson and Carlos Hyde are solidified at the top of the running back depth chart in Jacksonville. WR Laviska Shenault can be bumped up a few spots in PPR leagues.

Injury D.J. Chark has finger surgery, expected to be ready Week 1
Hairline fracture
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Aug 8, 12:56 pm

Jacksonville Jaguars
Jaguars’ WR D.J. Chark underwent surgery for a hairline fracture of his finger, but Jacksonville HC Urban Meyer said he still expects Chark to play in Week 1 vs Houston. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: This is going to limit Chark's ability to build chemistry with rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Marvin Jones, Laviska Shenault and Chark are expected to be the top three receivers in Jacksonville but who ends up being the best fantasy asset is difficult to project.
