2022 Outlook
Depth Chart
Taylor has put himself squarely in the middle of the No.1 overall pick discussion in all leagues and all formats. His stellar 2021 campaign dwarfed his already impressive rookie numbers of a year earlier. Last year he led the NFL in rushing with 1811 yards, which came on a league-high 332 carries for a 5.5-yard average and 18 touchdowns. He posted ten 100-yard rushing games, averaging 106.5 ground yards per game, and if that wasn't enough, he added 40 catches for 360 yards and two more scores.

He's a legitimate dual threat back who can break tackles, but still possesses the speed to gain the edge on outside zone runs. While opposing defenses are sure to stack the box against this run-first attack, having Matt Ryan in the backfield with him will be much more of a benefit than Carson Wentz was. Teams will likely make Ryan prove he can still make all the throws early on. But with his accuracy and an improved receiving corps in an offense that fits his skill set, defenses will be forced to honor his passing ability, which will keep things honest for Taylor.

Nyheim Hines may return to a bigger receiving role this year, but Taylor will still be part of the aerial attack, will still be a prime red zone threat, and in my opinion, is poised to obliterate the 2,000-yard rushing mark. If you have the No.1 pick in your draft, run, don't walk, to get the card in.

Injury Deon Jackson out for Week 10
Knee injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 11, 1:17 pm

Indianapolis Colts
#colts have ruled OUT RB Deon Jackson, LB Shaquille Leonard, and TE Jelani Woods. (James Palmer on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Jackson has seen playing time last week while Jonathan Taylor was on the sidelines due to an ankle injury. The Colts will roll with Taylor, Jordan Wilkins and Zack Moss at running back this week. Phillip Lindsay has been released and Jake Funk has been added to the practice squad.

Injury Jonathan Taylor Out for Week 9
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 4, 1:14 pm

Indianapolis Colts
#Colts coach Frank Reich says RB Jonathan Taylor is out for Sunday's game. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Taylor re-aggravated his ankle injury and will not play against the Patriots. Deon Jackson is expected to get the start with Phillip Lindsay, Jordan Wilkins and perhaps newly acquired Zack Moss filling backup roles. Jackson had 10 receptions back in Week 6 with Matt Ryan at the helm and the Patriots have given up the fewest fantasy points to running backs.

Bills and Colts swap backup running backs
Zack Moss to the Colts, Nyheim Hines to the Bills
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Nov 1, 3:00 pm

Buffalo Bills
Trade terms, per source: 🏈RB Zack Moss and a conditional 6th round pick in 2023 to the Colts. 🏈Nyheim Hines to the Bills. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: James Cook has been operating as the backup behind Devin Singletary the last couple of weeks. That role is now in jeopardy with the Nines acquisition. Moss will battle Deon Jackson for a backup role behind Jonathan Taylor. Hines has been fairly quiet this season with only 25 catches for 188 yards. This isn't a dramatic move for his fantasy value but the overall offensive environment is an improvement.

Injury Looking good for Jonathan Taylor, Optimistic on Hines
Nyheim Hines clears concussion protocol
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 21, 1:17 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Reich: "It's looking positive" for Jonathan Taylor to play Sunday. Unsure yet if there will be limitations. Nyheim Hines has cleared concussion protocol. "Feeling optimistic about Nyheim." #Colts (George Bremer on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Colts are likely to be at full strength in their running back room this week against the Titans. We'll see if we get any reports this weekend about restrictions on Taylor but he's trending towards being active and starting in Week 7. How much Hines and Deon Jackson play remains to be seen.

Injury Colts rule out Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines
Indianapolis down their top two running backs
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Oct 15, 12:49 pm

Indianapolis Colts
The #Colts have officially ruled out RBs Nyheim Hines (concussion) and Jonathan Taylor (ankle) this week. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Hines wasn't able to clear the concussion protocol in time while Taylor still isn't over his ankle injury suffered in Week 4. With both running backs on the bench, expect Phillip Lindsay to share time with Deon Jackson. Deon Jackson played 58% of the snaps in Week 5 while saw Lindsay saw 38%.

Injury Jonathan Taylor back at practice Thursday
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Oct 13, 1:16 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Colts running back Jonathan Taylor has returned to practice today, a good sign for his chances to play Sunday vs. Jacksonville. (Zak Keefer on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Taylor missed Week 5 against the Broncos but seems like he's on the right side of Questionable heading into Week 6. The Colts running attack has been inefficient this season leading to Taylor averaging 3.6 yards per carry. Back in Week 2, Taylor rushed 9 times for 54 yards against the Jaguars in a 24-0 loss.

Injury Jonathan Taylor ruled Out for Week 5
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Oct 5, 1:24 pm

Indianapolis Colts
The #Colts ruled out RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) for tomorrow night vs. the #Broncos. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: With the short turnaround, it wasn't likely Taylor would be ready to go for Week 5 against the Broncos. Phillip Lindsay is expected to get called up from the practice squad and will likely share time with Nyheim Hines. Deon Jackson is also on the roster but mainly plays special teams.

Injury Jonathan Taylor in limbo for Week 5
Star RB dealing with ankle sprain; Colts play on Thursday
By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 3, 11:55 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Tests on Colts’ RB Jonathan Taylor’s ankle were negative and he has a chance to play Thursday night vs. Denver, per source. (ESPN - Adam Schefter)

FFToday's Take: It sounds as though Taylor's managers can breathe a sigh of relief. With that said, the short week will make it very difficult for Taylor to play and play well. As of now, managers should expect to get more usage out of Nyheim Hines regardless of whether Taylor goes against Denver. Phillip Lindsay could also assume some of the workload as well. If Taylor plays Thursday, expectations need to be lowered.

Injury Colts downgrade Michael Pittman Jr. to Out for Week 2
Quad injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Sep 17, 12:48 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Colts downgraded WR Michael Pittman Jr. to out for Sunday’s game vs. the Jaguars. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Pittman is dealing with a quad injury that occurred in Wednesday's practice. Alec Pierce (concussion) has already been ruled out. Expect Matt Ryan to lean on Parris Campbell, RB Nyheim Hines and Ashton Dulin in the passing game and a whole lot of Jonathan Taylor on the ground.
