2022 was mostly a wash for Bateman as a promising start was dashed by a broken foot in Week 8. Health has been an issue for the former 1st rounder, as he's only played 19 games in his two seasons. Even more concerning is that even after seven months of rehab, Bateman still needed a "cortisone type shot" in his foot and missed several days of minicamp earlier this month. While Bateman and the Ravens hope that will be a non-issue by Week 1, the signing of OBJ might have a bigger impact on Bateman's role than his foot. Finances and hype have knocked Bateman down a peg in the pecking order, and that's not a great place to be on a team transitioning into an entirely new offense.
At best Bateman is the third passing option between Andrews and OBJ, and will stay there until he proves otherwise by being healthy and efficient. I haven't even mentioned the addition of 22nd overall pick Zay Flowers, and how he'll be another mouth to feed. I do think one of these receivers is going to be a surprise fantasy value, but like lots of players on this offense, the range of outcomes varies wildly. For now, add Bateman at the end of your drafts and hope the foot holds up.

Justice Hill, Odell Beckham Jr., out for Week 3 Ravens thin at running back By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 22, 2:50 pm

| | Ravens game statuses Sunday vs. Colts.
RB Justice Hill (toe), WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle), LT Ronnie Stanley (knee), C Tyler Linderbaum (ankle), OLB Odafe Oweh (ankle), CB Marlon Humphrey (foot) and S Marcus Williams (pectoral) have all been ruled out. (Jeff Zrebiec on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The Ravens are thin at running back with Gus Edwards the likely starter. Expect Melvin Gordon and perhaps Kenyan Drake to be called up to the practice squad. Edwards is a viable RB2 against the Colts but isn't a pass-catcher... something that will deflate his value in PPR leagues. Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor will help fill the OBJ void.

| Rashod Bateman put on PUP list Received a “cortisone-type” shot in his foot last month By: Doug Orth | Mon Jul 24, 11:30 pm

| | Ravens WR Rashod Bateman was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list to start training camp, per @FieldYates. He has been dealing with a foot injury that caused him to miss the last 9 games of 2022. It wouldn’t be surprising if he missed the first week or two of camp. (ESPN - Jamison Hensley)
FFToday's Take: Bateman cannot seem to buy a break when it comes to his health, as groin injuries as a rookie and a Lisfranc sprain last season have limited him to 18 games through two seasons. Fantasy managers got a taste of what he is capable of early last season with long touchdown catches in the first two games, but the foot injury in Week 4 marked the beginning of the end for him and his fantasy usefulness. Bateman has WR3 upside if he can get right, but Odell Beckham Jr. and rookie Zay Flowers stand to benefit the most if he can't.
