2023 Outlook
Depth Chart
After being nearly the entire Steeler offense in 2021, Harris's numbers took a dip last season. Down over 400 total yards and 33 receptions, Harris continued to be a volume driven, low efficiency option. Yes the line was brutal, but Harris has yet to display much burst and wiggle in the NFL. His single carry for 20+ yards was by far the fewest among backs with 200 or more carries and over his first 579 NFL totes, the longest rush he's been able to muster is a measly 37 yards. Because he's fundamentally sound and durable, he'll remain the workhorse for this team, but Pittsburgh has to get more splash plays from this running game if they are going to compete in this loaded division. Don't be shocked to see Jaylen Warren, who ran for 4.9 yards per carry behind that same cruddy o-line, steal some work from Harris. I think we've seen what Harris is over his first two seasons, and it's a borderline RB1/2 in all formats with little room to climb.

Le'Veon Bell considering a comeback
RB last played in 2021
By: Doug Orth | Mon Feb 5, 11:50 pm

NFL
Former All-Pro running back Le’Veon Bell, who spent five years with the Pittsburgh Steelers, took to social media last week to say that he is considering a return to the NFL after two years away but only wants to play with one team. "I'm gonna be honest with myself, I got to go out there and be like, I'm going to put my foot in the ground. Do I feel it? Am I hurting? Can I go out there and really play again?," Bell said in his video, via ESPN. "And bro, I'm telling you all right now when I go out there and train in March and if I hit April and I make this decision to come back to play in the NFL again, mark my words down -- I will be better than I ever was. "And I will only come back for that one team. You all know who it is. I don't have to say no team. You all know who it is." (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: Bell's assessment that “I will be better than I ever was" figures to be wishful thinking entering what would be his age-32 season. We can assume "that one team" will be the Steelers. Assuming that is the case, Bell would start out on the depth chart behind Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren. In short, Bell would have a hard time finding the field UNLESS he manages to come back better than ever. There is plenty of time between now and camp for Bell to change his mind.

Injury Najee Harris expected to play Thursday night
Knee injury
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Dec 7, 7:22 am

Pittburgh Steelers
#Steelers RB Najee Harris (knee) is expected to play tonight vs. the #Patriots, plus other updates from @gmfb @nflnetwork (Tom Pelissero on X)

FFToday's Take: According to Pelissero, this is not a new injury for Harris who has been dealing with a knee issue over the last few weeks. There's been no indication of a different workload split between Harris and Jaylen Warren, though that could certainly happen tonight if the Steelers want to take a little of Harris' plate.
