Depth Chart
A rare combination of size, speed, athleticism, and crazy ball skills, Pitts is already drawing comparisons to Calvin Johnson, and that makes sense. At 6'6", 245, he looks more like a big receiver than a tight end, and he will create matchup nightmares at every level of the defense. His athleticism will allow him to work from all parts of the field, and he will be a lethal threat in the red zone with the size to shield defenders and the hands to snatch the ball away from his body. When he, Ridley, and Gage are on the field together, it's going to create major problems for defensive coordinators. You'll draft him as a TE, but he's going to produce like a WR1.

Falcons prepping Russell Gage for increased role
“I understand my role may have increased, but I’m ready for it.”
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Jun 11, 10:05 am

Atlanta Falcons
With wide receiver Julio Jones off to Tennessee, the Falcons will count on Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage. “Russ has worked a lot in the slot, but like with all of our skill players, it’s our job to as coaches to push down with these guys and see what they can handle,” Smith said. “Russell has done a nice job in the slot, but we’ve moved Russell all over the place. Then we’ve got to make decisions as we get closer to the season. ... We envision Russ playing multiple spots.” (Atlanta Journal Constitution)

FFToday's Take: With Julio now catching passes from Ryan Tannehill, someone is going to have to step up in the Falcons offense. TE Kyle Pitts is expected to fill some of the vacated Julio targets but Gage should be first wideout in line to see a boost in production. He's an ideal late-round selection in drafts and should fly under the radar throughout the summer.

Falcons trade Julio Jones to Titans
Atlanta receivers
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Jun 6, 12:18 pm

Tennessee Titans
The Titans deal for Julio Jones: - The #Falcons get a 2022 2nd rounder and a 2023 4th rounder. - The #Titans get Julio Jones & a 6th rounder in 2023. - The #Titans take on Jones’ salary of $15.3M in 2021 and the rest of the deal. - #Falcons have $7.75M in dead money this year. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Given the Titans are inheriting the entire contract this is probably about as good of a deal as could be expected for Atlanta. This move is likely a ding to Matt Ryan's value and the offense as a whole as they lose one of the best playmakers in the game. That being said, this trade elevates rookie TE Kyle Pitts as the Falcons search for playmakers to go along with Calvin Ridley. The Titans get a much needed offensive weapon after losing Corey Davis and Jonnu Smith to free agency.
