Where to begin? Kyle Pitts was one of the few college tight ends this decade that performed better than most receivers. He was a top-10 Heisman Trophy finalist in 2021 and the Falcons selected him fourth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, yet no one batted an eye at the jaw-dropping pick given his immense talent.
He did exactly what was expected of him during his rookie season, finishing with the sixth-most fantasy points among all tight ends despite scoring only 1 TD. It was presumed that Pitts would only continue to thrive in 2022, but that wasn't the case.
In 10 games, Pitts hauled in just 28 receptions for 356 yards and two touchdowns. His 75.6 fantasy points last season were the 33rd-most at his position. Pitts would continue to be ranked high among his peers as analysts expected him to break out. However, that day never came.
Now entering Year 3, Pitts hopes to return to his rookie form and it's likely that he plays significantly better than last season. Perhaps the addition of Robinson and Hollins will encourage the coaching staff to get a more even balance between the run and pass? The addition of Bijan should also shift the defensive focus away from Pitts, easing the pressure off of him.
Pitts is now going at a reasonable price in fantasy drafts, somewhere in rounds 7-10 range which is a nice discount from his 2022 ADP of 65 overall in PPR leagues. Time to hop on board.

ATL sends Desmond Ridder to ARI for Rondale Moore Atlanta gets another weapon for Kirk Cousins By: Mike Krueger | Thu Mar 14, 1:36 pm
| | Breaking news from NFL Media: Cardinals are trading WR Rondale Moore to the Falcons for QB Desmond Ridder.
Arizona has its backup to Kyler Murray and says goodbye to a receiver who was likely going to be its fourth or fifth man on the WR depth chart. (Bob McManaman on X)
FFToday's Take: The Falcons are overhauling their offense and now have Drake London, Darnell Mooney and Moore as their top wide receivers to go along with TE Kyle Pitts. Moore doesn't carry a lot of fantasy juice given he's likely fourth at best in the offensive gameplan but could have some spiked weeks in the right situation.
| New Falcons QB: Kirk Cousins on a four-year deal Falcons get their upgrade at quarterback By: Mike Krueger | Mon Mar 11, 2:29 pm
| | Free agent QB Kirk Cousins is signing with the #Falcons, per
@MikeMcCartney7. A new era in Atlanta. And Minnesota. (Ian Rapoport on X)
FFToday's Take: Reportedly, the Vikings made a strong push to keep Cousins but the Falcons were determined to upgrade their QB position. Atlanta has some nice looking pieces on offense and are out of the Arthur Smith business so expect Cousins, Bijan Robinson, Drake London and Kyle Pitts to be highly valued fantasy commodities this season. Cousins is 35 and coming of an Achilles injury that limited him to 8 games last season so health and age are a concern.
| Falcons release TE Jonnu Smith Move will save $6.5 million in cap space By: Mike Krueger | Tue Feb 27, 2:56 pm
| | Falcons are releasing veteran tight end Jonnu Smith, per source.
Smith caught 50 passes for 532 yards and three touchdowns last season. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: This save will save $6.5 million in cap space but results in $2.5 million in dead money (which is relatively minor in today's NFL). Both Smith and Kyle Pitts finished inside the top 20 fantasy tight ends (PPR) in 2023 with Smith edging Pitts in fantasy points per game by a small margin (8.4 to 8.1). Smith will catch on somewhere in free agency but isn't likely to have a big fantasy impact in 2024.
| Atlanta discusses HC job with Bill Belichick "Mutual interest and conversations are ongoing" By: Doug Orth | Mon Jan 15, 11:00 pm
| | Legendary coach Bill Belichick and #Falcons owner Arthur Blank met in person recently to discuss Atlanta’s head coaching job, per sources.
No deal is imminent. But there is mutual interest and conversations are ongoing. (NFL Network - Tom Pelissero)
FFToday's Take: We don't typically deal with unemployed coaches meeting with teams here, but perhaps the best coach in NFL history going to Atlanta would be mind-blowing for many reasons. One would have to think Belichick and his staff would better utilize the Falcons' offensive weapons (Bijan Robinson, Drake London and Kyle Pitts) than Arthur Smith did. Belichick should have no shortage of teams interested in his services over the next few weeks, but Atlanta is one of the juicier ones because it would likely unlock a ton of fantasy talent.
