Through two seasons, Chris Olave has displayed the traits and had the peripheral metrics of someone who can be an elite fantasy option. Unfortunately, Olave hasn't been able to put all the pieces together thus far.
Last season, he proved to be a target earner and saw the high-value targets that lead to fantasy production. He ranked 17th in target share, 12th in total targets, 6th in air yards, and 4th in deep targets.
There is hope that Olave will be in line to see a larger number of "layup targets" that bump his catch rate in Kubiak's offense. Easy receptions are likely the key to unlocking Olave and pushing him into the upper tier of fantasy receivers along with more trips to the endzone. Olave has just 9 TDs over his first two seasons.
Given his age, performance through two seasons, and position as the clear top option in New Orleans, betting on Olave to put it all together in year three is a good idea. He's a solid WR2 in most formats with WR1 upside.

Chris Olave feeling good WR continues to meet with concussion specialists By: Doug Orth | Tue Nov 26, 6:00 pm
| | Darren Rizzi said that Chris Olave is in a good place. He was at practice today. He’s seen several specialists and has another appointment coming up soon. (ESPN.com - Katherine Terrell)
FFToday's Take: Olave is eligible to return from IR in Week 15. While no decision has been made regarding his status for the rest of the season, it appears the odds of him returning before the end of the regular season are better than 50-50. Much of it likely depends on if the Saints remain in the hunt for the NFC South (where they currently stand two games behind the Falcons). So long as New Orleans has something to play for when Olave is cleared, expect to see the stud receiver again in 2024.
| Rashid Shaheed to have meniscus surgery on knee Out multiple weeks By: Mike Krueger | Wed Oct 16, 3:19 pm
| | Source: Saints WR Rashid Shaheed’s meniscus surgery Thursday is now expected to determine whether he will be sidelined multiple weeks or for the rest of the season. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: The Saints are set to be without Chris Olave (concussion) and Shaheed in Week 7 when the host the Broncos. Depending on how the procedure goes, Shaheed could miss the rest of the season. The Saints season is circling the drain as they have now sustained injuries to three of their top four players on offense including QB Derek Carr (oblique). Bub Means, Cedrick Wilson and Mason Tipton are expected to be the top three receivers for Saints on Thursday.
