At first blush, it seemed to be a bit surprising to see Seattle, which on paper had several more pressing needs, select Walker in the second round of this year's draft. When you think about Pete Carroll's long-time love affair with running the ball, even at the expense of marginalizing a perennial Pro Bowl QB, it begins to make more sense. The former Spartan enters the NFL with the kind of burst and breakaway speed to be an immediate big-play threat; that's something the Seahawks need with its passing game in a state of flux. The rookie is also considered a physical back and a tough runner.
Where Walker still needs to show improvement is in the passing game where scouting reports refer to him as unreliable in pass protection and inexperienced catching passes out of the backfield. While he's capable of making things happen with the ball in space, he may operate as an early-down option in the opening stages of his career. Look for him and Penny to split time in the backfield, if both are healthy.
Bear in mind that the Seahawks have Walker under team control for the next four years, while Penny will be a free agent at the end of this one. That means they're likely to favor the rookie's development in what figures to be a down year in Seattle, making Walker a low-end RB3.

Marquise Goodwin Doubtful, Lockett expected to play Shoulder injury for Goodwin By: Mike Krueger | Fri Dec 30, 6:03 pm

| | The Seahawks' final injury report lists Lockett as a full participant today and says WR Marquise Goodwin has been downgraded to doubtful. He has a shoulder sprain. RB Kenneth Walker is listed as questionable but Pete Carroll expects him to play. The Seahawks list WR Tyler Lockett as questionable, but a source tells me he’s expected to play Sunday vs. the Jets. That’ll be 13 days after surgery to repair a broken bone in his left hand. (Brady Henderson on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Seattle is dealing with a number of injuries including Lockett who missed last week after surgery on his left hand. He'll be hard to trust in his normal role. With Lockett banged up and Will Dissly out, we could see a lot of DK Metcalf and Noah Fant for Seattle this week.

| Kenneth Walker, Fant, Goodwin expected to play All listed as questionable By: Mike Krueger | Thu Dec 22, 5:19 pm

| | So to recap from Pete Carroll, he said all four players listed as questionable --- RBs Kenneth Walker and DeeJay Dallas, TE Noah Fant and WR Marquise Goodwin --- are expected to play. .... (Bob Codotta on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The Seahawks listed a good portion of the starting skill position players as Questionable but all are expected to play against the Chiefs in Week 16. Walker added a back issue to his injury list which is somewhat concerning but unless we get specific news that will keep him limited, he should be treated as an RB2 this week.

| Kenneth Walker not listed on final injury report Ready to go for Week 15 By: Mike Krueger | Wed Dec 14, 4:28 pm

| | Actually, the Seahawks just released their finish injury report and Kenneth Walker isn’t even listed, so he’s considered healthy enough to play tomorrow. Five players are listed as questionable: RB DeeJay Dallas, S Ryan Neal, DT Al Woods, S Joey Blount and CB Tre Brown. (Brady Henderson on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Walker missed Week 14 with what Pete Carroll described as a "jammed ankle". Seattle used Travis Homer last week as their main back but with Walker in the mix, expected Homer to serve in a backup role. The 49ers are the worst possible matchup for running backs this season.

| Kenneth Walker logs full practice Tuesday Missed Week 14 with a "jammed" ankle By: Doug Orth | Tue Dec 13, 11:55 pm

| | It's looking like Kenneth Walker has a decent chance of playing Thursday night vs. the 49ers. The Seahawks list him as a full participant today. (ESPN - Brady Henderson)
FFToday's Take: Walker has been a revelation for the Seahawks and his managers, but his ability to deliver the goods in fantasy might have to wait a week - assuming he plays. Not only is it possible that Walker may have to share some work if his conditioning took a hit - his last full game was Week 12 - but he will face the 49ers, who have been the most difficult matchup for running backs this season.

| It's a jammed ankle for Kenneth Walker More tests today By: Mike Krueger | Mon Dec 5, 9:31 am

| | #Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker will have tests today on what coach Pete Carroll called a "jammed" ankle. The injury -- the hope is it's not serious -- is different from a sprain because the joint jammed down and not one side or the other. Strange injury. Anyway, tests coming. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Walker only played 21% of the snaps before leaving with his ankle issue. Tony Jones and DeeJay Dallas picked up the slack. Travis Homer was Inactive. Walker was one of many injuries in Week 13 that caused headaches for fantasy owners.
