Warren took a major leap in year two, teaming with Najee Harris to give the Steelers two top-30 fantasy backs that only the Lions and Dolphins were able to match. Though Pitt never wavered from keeping Harris as the workhorse, Warren did become the preferred passing down back, as his 74 targets put him 6th in the NFL at his position. He continued to be ultra efficient with his carries with a 5.3 per-carry average. That mark made him 2nd among backs behind only Christian McCaffrey. Warren's athletic profile, and advanced metrics make him one of the best values in fantasy football, and if Najee Harris were to miss time, Warren would be an upside RB2 even with the addition of Cordarrelle Patterson. Either way, with improvements along the line, a run-first scheme, and check-down champ at quarterback, Warren not only possesses strong standalone value, but also season altering upside.

Jaylen Warren expected to miss some time Knee injury; underwent MRI on Monday By: Doug Orth | Tue Sep 24, 5:40 pm
| | RB Jaylen Warren’s knee injury week to week. (Gerry Dulac on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Monday's MRI must have revealed enough inflammation or damage to convince the team to call him week-to-week on Tuesday. Warren's absence should be a slight boon to Najee Harris' fantasy stock, although Pittsburgh's offense has been so conservative that no one outside of George Pickens and maybe Justin Fields have been usable in fantasy. Cordarrelle Patterson figures to assume most of Warren's role in the offense and is worth adding off waivers this week.
| Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren both ailing Harris nursing likely arm injury; Warren dealing with a knee issue By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 23, 5:05 pm
| | Najee Harris had a sling on his right arm in the Steelers locker room today.

FFToday's Take: HC Mike Tomlin has yet to speak on the issue with the media, so there's not much to report yet. With that said, the fact Harris has his arm in a sling suggests he is more likely than not to miss a game for the first time in his NFL career against the Colts in Week 4. Warren dealt with a hamstring injury right before the start of the season, so his season has not gotten off to the greatest start. Cordarrelle Patterson would be the next man up for the Steelers and would be worth starting as a flex option in deeper leagues if Harris and Warren are both sidelined.
| Jaylen Warren anticipates playing in opener Recovering from a preseason hamstring injury By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 2, 8:00 pm
| | Steelers RB Jaylen Warren (hamstring) said he did individuals and special teams work in practice today, and he anticipates joining team periods on Wednesday.
He said he'll be good to go for the season opener Sunday. (ESPN - Brooke Pryor)
FFToday's Take: Warren came at a discount during August drafts due to the hamstring injury. While his fantasy managers should rejoice because of that, Pittsburgh's offensive line may not be what most expected due to the injuries it has dealt with so far. With that said, Warren still profiles as a capable flex option who will likely dabble with RB2 production on occasion. Najee Harris should still be drafted a bit earlier based on his expected workload.
