Tank Bigsby was the player who was supposed to take work away from Etienne last season. There's no sugarcoating it, Bigsby looked bad on the field. He was mediocre at best as a rusher and as a receiver, it was even worse. On four targets, he had three drops, two of which led to interceptions.
There's been coach speak this off-season from Doug Pederson and offensive coordinator Press Taylor, suggesting Bigsby is going to get another chance to fill the backup role to Etienne. This makes him the front-runner for backup job, but this isn't guaranteed given the tape he put out last season. Keep an eye on training camp reports to ensure Bigsby is in fact the RB2 before drafting him.

Tank Bigsby ruled Out for Week 11 Ankle injury By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 15, 4:01 pm
| | The #Jaguars ruled out QB Trevor Lawrence and RB Tank Bigsby for Sunday's game at Detroit. (Tom Pelissero on X)
FFToday's Take: Bigsby missed practice all week with an ankle injury and has been ruled Out for Week 11. That will put Travis Etienne back in the lead back role while D'Ernest Johnson (hamstring) works as the backup. This is a bad matchup and game environment for the Jaguars who are 14-point underdogs to Detroit. Etienne can be considered a weak RB2.
| Both Etienne and Bigsby likely to play Jags have numerous injuries on offense By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 3, 2:09 am
| | #Jaguars RB Tank Bigsby (ankle) and RB Travis Etienne Jr. (hamstring) are both likely to play today, barring a setback, sources say.
It's the same for WR Brian Thomas Jr. (chest), though Gabe Davis (shoulder) appears to be more of a long-shot. (Ian Rapoport on X)
FFToday's Take: The Jaguars are dealing with a number of injuries to their offensive personnel but it sounds like both running backs will be active which caps their ceiling. With Gabe Davis likely to miss, expect Parker Washington to get more looks this week against the Eagles who are giving up the 10th most fantasy points to wide receivers.
| Travis Etienne week to week with hamstring injury Tank Bigsby in the lead back role By: Mike Krueger | Mon Oct 14, 9:07 am
| | Jaguars HC Doug Pederson told reporters today that RB Travis Etienne Jr. is now considered week to week due to his hamstring injury. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: Etienne has yet to get on track this season, dealing with a shoulder injury while splitting time with Tank Bigsby. Etienne will now miss the next few weeks which will give Bigsby a chance at the lead back role. D'Ernest Johnson moves up to the No.2 spot. Upcoming schedule for the Jaguars include the Patriots, Packers, Eagles and Vikings.
| Travis Etienne playing through pain Recurring shoulder issue By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 7, 7:00 pm
| | Travis Etienne got popped in the shoulder again and that’s why he was held out at the end of the game. Pederson says he’ll be okay. (Jordan de Lugo on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Etienne's volume has dipped over the last two games, which has contributed somewhat to Tank Bigsby's resurgence. It would seem as though Jacksonville wants the two backs to split the workload as much as possible and it may be moving in that direction. Etienne will remain the clear starter for the Jags, but it is clear that Bigsby has earned himself a role. As such, Etienne needs to be treated as a RB2 in fantasy until further notice.
