Spears is one of those lottery tickets we find in the sofa cushions that we soon realize was not worth the price. Spears, to his credit, has at least been a consistently average RB so far through his first two NFL seasons and does modest work in the passing game. He's played in 29 games but has only seen double-digit rush attempts in four contests. Two of those games came in the final two weeks of 2024 when the season was essentially over. Translation: Spears is not a cornerstone fixture in Tennessee's offense and should be largely ignored in most fantasy drafts until the later rounds. But, as always, if something happens to Pollard, Spears will become a hot commodity.

FFToday's Take: Forgive fantasy managers for being skeptical after Tennessee said similar things last year, only to ask him to handle 301 touches across 16 relatively meaningless games. At least until Tyjae Spears (ankle) is ready to come off IR, Pollard's handcuff will likely be Mullings since the team rarely used Chestnut in a similar spot last year. Mullings is probably worth a stash in 14-team leagues, but he will likely remain off the radar in 12-teamers.

Injured in first pre-season game

FFToday's Take: Spears injured his ankle in Tennessee's first pre-season game and will now miss at least the first four weeks of the regular season. Tony Pollard is likely to see a heavy workload while Spears is out and given the lack of the depth they have at the position, it wouldn't be a surprise for Tennessee to add a running back over the next couple of days.

FFToday's Take: We still need more information on Spears' injury but this isn't great news. Depending on the severity, Spears could be in danger of missing Week 1 which would leave Tony Pollard closer to a workhorse role. Spears dealt with ankle and hamstring injuries last season, playing in just 12 games.
