2023 Outlook
Depth Chart
The Texans' air attack was subpar in 2022 as quarterback Davis Mills threw 17 touchdowns and 15 interceptions -- tied for the most in the NFL. Houston aided their passing game in the offseason, by selecting Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud No. 2 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. Stroud is known for his strong arm and accuracy at all three levels of the gridiron.

Stroud, who finished fourth in Heisman Trophy voting in 2021 and third in 2022, threw for 8,123 yards, 85 touchdowns and just 12 interceptions during his two years as the Buckeyes' starter. However, he's going from one of the best receiving corps in college football to one of, if not the worst group of pass catchers in the NFL.

If Stroud could find a way to alter his receivers' reputation, he may be recognized for more than just the offensive rookie of the year award. Until then, he'll start the season as a late-round to undrafted quarterback in fantasy football drafts. However, should he succeed with his strong arm and accuracy, the 21-year-old may be able to offers some spot starts for your fantasy team late in the season.

Trade: Bills moving WR Stefon Diggs to Texans
Bills receive 2025 second-round pick
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Apr 3, 11:00 am

Buffalo Bills
Blockbuster: Bills are finalizing a trade to send four-time Pro-Bowl WR Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans for draft-pick compensation, sources tell ESPN. Compensation updates, per sources: Bills receive 2025 second-round pick via Minnesota. Texans receive Stefon Diggs and a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick. (Adam Schefter on X)

FFToday's Take: There have been rumors swirling around Diggs (30) and his happiness in Buffalo before last season so this deal isn't a huge shock but does leave the Bills very thin at wide receiver. Expect them to address the position in the upcoming draft (they have pick 28). Houston is stocking their team around young QB C.J. Stroud who've also added RB Joe Mixon, DE Danielle Hunter and DT Denico Autry (to name a few) this offseason.

New 3-year deal for TE Dalton Schultz, Houston
$23.5M guaranteed
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Mar 5, 1:09 pm

Houston Texans
Sources: The #Texans have agreed to terms on a deal to keep TE Dalton Schultz in Houston. He gets a 3-year, $36M new contract with $23.5M fully guaranteed at signing. Schultz is a key weapon for C.J. Stroud. The deal was done by TE guru and agent @SteveCaric of @Wass_Football. (Ian Rapoport on X)

FFToday's Take: Schultz's first year in Houston with Stroud resulted in a 55-635-5 line in 15 games played, finishing as the TE11 in PPR leagues. He'll have low-end TE1, high-end TE2 value in redraft leagues this Summer.
