2019 Outlook
Depth Chart
Like other top-ranked QBs in 2018, Matt Ryan's impressive season last year was overshadowed by the breakout year by Patrick Mahomes. Ryan's 26 fantasy points per game were .3 points per game higher than his MVP season in 2016, and his three rushing touchdowns were the most in his career.

A dreadful defense caused by significant injuries to multiple stars on the defensive side of the ball created a situation in which Ryan and the offense were required to score a ton to stay in games. While that same scenario does not appear to be in play this year with those defensive players returning from injury, the Falcons do play in a tough division against with the Saints and Bucs, to teams who boast high powered offenses.

Like his fellow NFC South counterpart, Drew Brees, Matt Ryan boasts significant splits in games played inside in the dome. The good news for Ryan owners is the fact that the Falcons play all but three of their games indoors this year, including shootout-worthy matchups against the Colts, Eagles, and Cardinals.

Another positive for Ryan and the entire Falcons offense is the draft capital that the team used this offseason to bolster their offensive line. If given time to survey the field, Ryan can put up numbers on par with just about any other quarterback not named Patrick Mahomes.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Julio Jones, Austin Hooper good to go for Sunday
Falcons passing game getting healthy
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Dec 6, 12:33 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Dan Quinn said Julio Jones (shoulder) and Austin Hooper (MCL) wi11 play vs. Carolina on Sunday. (Vaughn McClure on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: This will be Hooper's first game since spraining his MCL in Week 10. Julio missed last week's game with a shoulder injury. This gives Matt Ryan and the offense all of their weapons in a matchup against the Panthers. The Panthers are more susceptible to the run, making this a sneaky good spot for Devonta Freeman.

Injury Matt Ryan ruled out, Matt Schaub will start
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Oct 26, 3:57 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Matt Schaub to start; Danny Etling to back up Schaub. OL John Wetzel released again to make room for Etling. (Vaughn McClure on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Matt Ryan got some limited practice time in this week but ultimately his sprained ankle will cause him to miss Week 8. The Falcons have a bye in Week 9. Schaub will get the start at quarterbacks against the Seahakws but his presense downgrades the offense a bit in this matchup.

Injury Matt Ryan practices Friday, gametime decision
Sprained ankle
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 25, 1:00 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Dan Quinn on Matt Ryan's status off the right ankle sprain: "We will have a sense for what that looks like tomorrow. We pushed it really hard with him today to see how he responds overnight to go. But I think you have to push to find out. So that what we did today." If Ryan can't go, Matt Schaub would start and Danny Etling would be elevated to be the backup. Ryan wouldn't be the backup, he would be ruled out. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Ryan did practice on Friday and will reportedly be a gametime decision. If he can't go, Matt Schaub will get the start. The Falcons have a bye in Week 9 but it appears there pushing to get Ryan ready for Week 8. We'll likely have a better idea of his status on Saturday.

Injury Sprained right ankle for Matt Ryan
More tests today
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Oct 21, 7:55 am

Atlanta Falcons
#Falcons QB Matt Ryan is believed to have an ankle sprain that is not major, though he'll have tests today... while coach Dan Quinn's seat is getting warmer (but no move expected today). (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Ryan left Sunday's debacle early in the fourth quarter on his way to a QB24 performance in Week 7. Matt Schaub would be the starter against the Seahawks this week if Ryan can't go. The Falcons have a bye in Week 9.
