Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Jets 21, Bills 20
Buffalo: The Bills have decided to go with rookie QB Trent Edwards as their starter despite the fact J.P. Losman has recovered from his knee injury. Buffalo has scored 20 points per game since Edwards took over but to say he's sparked the passing game would be an understatement. The Bills have one (1) passing touchdown this season and Edwards has thrown over 200 yards in only one game… against the Jets back in Week 4. Marshawn Lynch remains the bulk of the offense although another Lee Evans sighting occurred last week (5 catches 95 yds). Buffalo yet to win on the road and while they might be a better team, until they prove they can get over the road hump, you have to take the Jets in this one.
- Start: RB Marshawn Lynch
- Consider: WR Lee Evans
- Sit: WR Peerless Price, WR Josh Reed, QB J.P. Losman, TE Robert Royal
New York Jets: The Jets find themselves at 1-6 and everybody in the tri-state area calling for quarterback Kellen Clemens. Jets head coach Eric Mangini said that Pennington will remain the starter this week, noting his play-making and decision making abilities as the primary reasons but the writing is on the wall. Should the Jets lose this game don't be surprised if the switch is made. Pennington did throw for 290 yards with a touchdown the last time these teams met and is coming off a 20 of 31 effort for 272 yards and three touchdowns against the Benglas last week. With a little help from Thomas Jones, the Jets can win this game and save Pennington's job… for one more week anyway.
- Start: WR Laveranues Coles
- Consider: QB Chad Pennington, RB Thomas Jones, WR Jerricho Cotchery
- Sit: RB Leon Washington, TE Chris Baker
