Derek Carr vs TEN

Carr has rebounded nicely after being dumped by the Raiders. Being able to join the Saints so early in the offseason has paid dividends, as reports out of camp tell a tale of chemistry and comradery between Carr and his receivers. With Kamara out for the first few weeks, this offense could take to the air early and often against a Tennessee team in transition. While he didn’t have much beyond Davante Adams last season, Carr has a plethora of weapons in New Orleans that can threaten in all areas of the field. If you are streaming QBs or just faded the position, Carr is worth a look in Week 1.

Kirk Cousins

Kirk Cousins vs TB

A good bet to attempt 700 passes this season, Cousins and the Vikings passing game should feast on Tampa team that could be one of the league's worst this season. This Buc defense ended last season giving up big fantasy games to Sam Darnold and Desmond Ridder, and will struggle to contain the arsenal of offensive weapons Minnesota is capable of rolling out. SKOL!

Kenny Pickett vs SF

The San Fran defense is a solid unit, but multiple coaching transitions and a missing or limited Nick Bosa make it weaker. On paper they looked lights out against fantasy quarterbacks last season, but a closer look reveals a clown car of mediocrity on a weekly basis. The likes of Mayfield, McCoy, Heinicke and Dalton littered their schedule, yet they were torched by Jarrett Stidham in Week 17 and did little to slow Mahomes. I believe in this Pittsburgh offense, and I think the aggression of Pickett pays off in a big way in Week 1 against a Niner secondary that might have to hold coverage a half-second too long.

Matthew Stafford @ SEA

After a tumultuous offseason that saw the Rams make attempts to move on from their starting quarterback, Stafford now leads this offense into a road divisional showdown without their all-world receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring). Even with the former AP offensive player of the year, this is sure to be a long season for L.A. The line remains one of the worst in the league, and the skill position depth is shaky at best. Stafford has been a gamer his entire career, but this is even too much for him to overcome.

Dak Prescott @ NYG

Met life will be rocking Sunday night as Prescott and the detested Cowboys come to town to kick off the 2023 season. There is a ton of pressure on Dak and this offense, but the G-men have the scheme, and talent in the secondary to keep this passing game in check. We haven’t seen much of this new Dallas offense in the preseason, and I think Wink’s boys in blue make things difficult in Week 1.

Josh Allen @ NYJ

With the 2nd of two prime time games kicking off in Jersey in less than 24 hours, Bills vs Jets should be another tough inter-division slugfest. There is a punch-drunk haze lingering over this Buffalo team after last year’s bitter playoff exit. The heavyweight champ of this division is teetering, and the Jets have the defensive personnel to continue to make life miserable. Allen combined for only 352 yards and a single score through the air in two games against the Jets last season, and while his legs always give him a solid floor, he’s going to struggle to reach his draft investment in Week 1.
