Sam LaPorta

TE Sam LaPorta @ ARI

Admittedly there are few metrics that would support LaPorta in this slot, but the buzz around the Lions this week is that the offense had gotten away from its identity. Despite 56 pass attempts last week, LaPorta only saw 3 looks, and has a paltry 6-58-0 line for the season. With Sun God banged up, and a Cardinal defense that can be bullied, look for the Lions to run the ball, and get back to more of a play-action based offense that LaPorta can use to stretch the seams.

Brandon Aiyuk @ LAR

The San Fran offense is beginning to look like an episode of the Walking Dead. Deebo is now out a few weeks, and the passing game should flow through Aiyuk now that he’s begun to work into game shape after a lengthy hold-in. With a decimated Rams defense ripe for the picking, Aiyuk lives up to his draft capital.

TE Kyle Pitts vs KC

It’s been a tragically slow start for most of the top tight ends in the NFL, Pitts included. He’s seen just 7 targets this season, and has taken a backseat to the Falcon receivers, but so far this season the Chiefs have seemed content to let tight ends have their way. KC has given up the most fantasy points to the position by a wide margin, and should be busy slowing the Atlanta run game. Pitts has the ability to exploit some matchups, and has the talent to make a start worth it.

Chicago Bear Receivers @ IND

How can you trust any pass catcher on this offense right now? With Caleb Williams struggling mightily to adjust to the speed and timing of the NFL, D.J. Moore, Rome Odunze, Cole Kmet, and Keenan Allen (heel) are clogging up roster spots and starting lineups. Moore probably sneaks in as an upside WR3, but that’s about it.

Jaylen Waddle @ SEA

The Seahawk secondary hasn’t given up 50 yards to a receiver yet, and with Skylar Thompson taking over for Tua, look for plenty of safe, short throws from the Dolphins. Sitting Waddle probably isn’t an option, but the guy you drafted to be your WR2 is probably looking at a WR3 ceiling for a while.

Packers Receivers @ TEN

It’s Wednesday, and I’m working on the assumption that Love will be out, or severely limited this weekend against the Titans. Tennessee has put a wet blanket on receivers thus far, so the matchup, combined with the status of Love, and the slot machine nature of the Green Bay receivers, make this a position group to avoid for now.
