Quarterbacks

Start 'Em:
Quarterbacks Who Will Outperform Relative To Their Draft Position And Recent Hype

Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. KC
Maybe a bit of a long shot - but if you’re playing in Week 17 - what do you expect? Ryan Joseph Fitzpatrick could actually be a good fit for owners who need a plug and play. At home against a bad KC defense, the Harvard alum should be able to get the ball to his playmakers and put up good totals. Fitzpatrick likes to run the ball so there is always the chance of a rushing TD.

Jay Cutler @ SD
It shouldn’t matter to fantasy owners that the Broncos offense is predictable as long as Cutler keeps throwing for 300 yards. He was held without a passing TD last week for just the second time this season, but he made up for it with 359 yards passing and 2 rushing TDs. He should get back on track Sunday in what should be an AFC West shootout with the division on the line.

Philip Rivers vs. DEN
Rivers tossed 4 TDs last week @ Tampa and now has 9 TD passes and just 1 interception in his last 3 games. He leads the NFL in TD passes (32) and QB rating (104.0) and he needs to be in your lineup this week against the Broncos. As LDT’s struggles continue, Rivers has kept fantasy owners and the Chargers in the hunt.

Chad Pennington @ NYJ
James Chadwick Pennington gets another shot at his former team on Sunday. In the Week 1 loss to the Jets, Chad threw for 251 yards and 2 scores. He has improved since then and should be solid against the Jets struggling defense. The Jets are now one of the four worst teams in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game.

Bench 'Em:
Quarterbacks Who Will Under Perform Relative To Their Draft Position And Recent Hype

Donovan McNabb vs. DAL
The Cowboys defense is one of only 4 NFL teams that hold opponents under 190 passing YPG. McNabb had strung together 3 good games after his Week 12 benching, but last week’s showing against the Redskins was nothing to write home about. This game should be more of a defensive struggle than the Week 2 shootout between the teams.

Kyle Orton @ HOU
Orton (aka Dave Grohl’s stunt-double) has thrown 4 INTs and only 1 TD in his last 2 games. Orton had some impressive games earlier this season but he was either playing over his head then or his ankle is still troubling him now. Either way, it’s a little scary hinging any championship hopes on this guy.

David Garrard @ BAL
Last week Garrard posted just his second 300-yard game of the season. He has been a disappointment across the board and there is no way he should be considered for deployment against the Ravens. They have devoured quarterbacks of a much higher caliber.

Shaun Hill vs. WAS
While Hill has reached the 200-yard mark for a 3rd straight game, his QB-rating and yardage has declined each week during that time. He’s in a tough spot on the road in Washington. The Redskins have allowed 15 aerial scores this season, tied for the 5th lowest total in the league.
