It is Week 9 already and time we circle back to players to fade
in your FanDuel cash games. Choosing what players to fade is as
important as finding value, especially when constructing a lineup
for cash games. The idea is to create a lineup with a high floor
and low variance so you can make it above the pay line.
This week I am very high on the Oakland at Pittsburgh game. I
think it could be a great spot for Antonio Brown with Big Ben
healthier and DeAngelo Williams comes at a great price. I’m
also on Michael Crabtree as a cheaper WR option and Jets Defense
against the Jaguars. Tom Brady should have a great showing against
a terrible Washington pass defense and I expect Brandon LaFell
to pay off value in cash games.
Editor's Note: Lineup
updated 11/8/15, 9:45 am ET.
Last week Rodgers faced arguably the best defense in the league
in Denver and put up a dud. It is hard for me to justify his salary
and matchup against Carolina in Week 9, especially in cash. The
Panthers pass defense is ranked seventh in the NFL with only seven
passing scores allowed all year. Though I don’t expect to
see 77 yards passing again from Rodgers this week, he is a clear
fade for me in cash on FanDuel.
Andrew Luck’s struggles have been well documented this
year behind a horrible offensive line in Indianapolis. He’s
been turning the ball over at an inexcusable pace and this week
against Denver could be much of the same. Donte Moncrief struggled
against another top defense in the Panthers and I don’t
expect him to hit value at his current salary. He has been a fixture
in my value plays article most weeks but for Week 9, he is a fade.
The New York Giants play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week whose
pass defense can very much be compared to the Saints team they
played last week. With that being said, I can’t get behind
Harris as a potential punt play at WR. Yes he had two touchdowns
last week but he also had just three catches for 37 yards, which
is not the type of volume I look for in cash games.
This is a great matchup for Tom Brady and the Patriots and I
expect this game to get out of hand early. Amendola has been playing
well but things are getting crowded in the wide receiving corps
in New England and Brandon LaFell is already stealing snaps from
Amendola in two-wide-receiver sets. This seems like a game where
Brady will be content to spread the ball around, and we may see
a score or two on the ground from either Dion Lewis or LeGarrette
Blount.
LeSean McCoy is healthy and even though he only posted a stat
line of 11/16/0 rushing in Week 3 against the Dolphins, I don’t
buy Karlos Williams as a play this week in cash games. He is expected
back from concussion protocol but I don’t believe this backfield
will be a committee approach even though Williams played well
earlier this year. The Bills have too much invested in McCoy not
to feed him when healthy. Williams has a nice salary, but will
be a fade for me in Week 9.
This offense has been inconsistent to say the least. Possibly
a GPP play going forward but I am done being burned by Matthews
in cash games. This week Matthews has a tough matchup against
a Cowboys team that only gave up one touchdown and 210 yards to
Russell Wilson last weekend. Matthews will continue to be unimpressive
this week and I want no part of him in cash even though he did
go for six receptions, 80 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 against
Dallas. That being said they have given up just eight touchdowns
all season through the air and have played extremely well as of
late.
A running back on the road as a heavy underdog is never a recipe
for success in daily fantasy. This week against the Patriots could
get out of hand quickly. His salary is cheap but I can’t
rely on a committee situation with this game script in cash games.
Rookie Matt Jones has had a significant impact this season and
the backfield as a whole seems like a fade in Week 9.
With Keenan Allen done for the year it is very possible that Ladarius
Green could see an increase in volume in the passing game, especially
with how well he played in Antonio Gates absence. However, Green
is banged up with an ankle injury and I expect at least this week
to see more opportunities for Stevie Johnson to fill the Allen
void in this offense. The Bears defense is actually fourth in
the NFL in net yards per game even though they have allowed 16
passing touchdowns. Look for other options in your cash games
if dead set on playing someone from Monday Night Football.
