The WFT has been the worst team in the league at playing pass
defense and has turned every quarterback they’ve faced into
a star. In Week 8, it’s Teddy Bridgewater’s turn.
Washington has allowed a league-worst 31.2 FPts/G and 19 touchdown
passes. Bridgewater has thrown multiple TD passes in three straight
games and sees the return of Jerry Jeudy to a quality receiving
corps that includes; Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick and Noah Fant.
Despite a short practice week and likely no T.Y. Hilton, Wentz
should be ready to face a weak Titans’ pass defense this
Sunday. The Titans will need to crowd the line of scrimmage to
defend Jonathan Taylor and it will leave them vulnerable over
the top to strikes from improving Michael Pittman Jr. (4-105-1
last Sunday night in a rain storm). Wentz has thrown just one
interception all season, a far cry from last year in Philadelphia,
against 11 touchdown passes. He won’t be the top passer
this week, but he should still be a solid QB1.
The “old man” is coming off a bye so should be as
healthy as he has been all season. Despite a fading arm, he’s
managed to throw for at least 229 yards in five consecutive games
and hasn’t thrown an interception since Week 4. The Browns
are No. 7 against RBs and No. 24 against opposing QBs, so the
game plan should be winning through Diontae Johnson and Chase
Claypool.
As hard as it is to say, Rodgers might have a tough time in the
desert this Thursday. Short work week, no Davante Adams or Allen
Lazard and facing a strong Cardinals’ pass defense which
is allowing just 19.7 FPts/G and has yet to allow a 300-yard passer.
He will likely get back Marquez Valdes-Scantling to go along with
Randall Cobb and Robert Tonyan, but the game plan should center
on Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon and not A-Rod’s arm.
Although Taylor has been very good for the five-and-a-half quarters
of football he’s played this season, averaging 8.1 fantasy points
per quarter, facing the Rams is not a pleasant prospect. They
are third in sacks (20) and fourth in QB fantasy points allowed
(18.6) over the past three games. Only Tom Brady and Kyler Murray
have cracked the 21-point mark on this defense in 2021 and Taylor
isn’t that good or have their weapons.
Lawrence has put up a couple of solid games in a row, but the
Seahawks pass defense has improved of late and ranks No. 5 over
the past three weeks in QB points allowed (18.8). The Seahawks
are much more vulnerable to the run (ranked 29th) and James Robinson
should be featured for most of the day.
