Grab a Helmet

Zay Jones

1) Zay Jones vs. Tennessee (Sat.)

Jones is producing career-best numbers this season (78-802-5) and 12.7 FPts/G. He’s been even better since Week 13, producing 13.5 FPts/G. That’s above the team’s No.1 wideout Christian Kirk (10.2) over the same span. Tennessee is the worst team against opposing wideouts, allowing 40.9 FPts/G, so both receivers can be started.

2) Rashid Shaheed vs. Carolina

Surprisingly, Chris Olave is not the Saints No.1 receiver over the past four games… it’s Shaheed at 13 FPts/G and 19 targets (17-290-1). The Panthers are allowing 39.2 FPts/G making them a great play for the undervalued Shaheed.

3) Justin Jefferson @ Chicago

Just a little humor on the last week of the 2022 regular season. No one would ever sit “JJ”. Also, Jefferson’s ego would never allow him to suffer through another performance like Week 17 (five targets, one catch for 15 yards). He’s had two single-digit games this season before last week and he’s rebounded with 31 and 28.9 fantasy points, respectively, in the next contest.

Grab some Pine

1) Tyreek Hill vs. New York Jets

I understand the FOMO (fear of missing out) by sitting Hill, but he’s not the same receiver with Skylar Thompson under center. If it’s Thompson, Hill managed just 47 yards in Thompson’s only start against these same Jets in Week 5 and produced 55 yards last week (21 from Thompson). If it’s Bridgewater (throwing hand pinkie injury), Hill will be just fine and should be started as usual. The Jets are No.1 against opposing wideouts allowing just 25.4 FPts/G.

2) Michael Pittman Jr. vs. Houston

Announced starting quarterback Sam Ehlinger has yet to prove he’s a starting quarterback in the NFL after a nice career with the Texas Longhorns. In three NFL starts he’s averaging 121.3 passing yards per game. He’s thrown one touchdown pass. That makes it pretty difficult for Pittman to produce big numbers. Meanwhile, all teams choose a run-first game plan against the Texans, who have allowed just five touchdown passes to receivers in 16 games.

3) Van Jefferson @ Seattle

With Baker Mayfield as the starting quarterback, all options are closed for Rams wideouts. He’s averaging just 175.8 passing yards per game. While Jefferson appears to be the team’s current No.1 receiver by default, he’s managed just 8.3 fantasy points with Mayfield under center. Additionally, the Seahawks are No.4 against opposing wideouts allowing just 27.2 FPts/G.
