When we last saw Penix on a consistent basis, he was throwing
passes to Rome Odunze (Chicago), Ja’Lynn Polk (New England), and
Jalen McMillan (Tampa Bay), while they were all at the University
of Washington. The No.8 overall pick will finally get to start
a game in the NFL and gets a favorable matchup to start his career.
The Giants defense ranks 21st against opposing QBs and has produced
a league-worst two interceptions. Penix has a decent set of weapons
at his disposal and should be able to start his career off with
a bang. If your quarterback is injured, in a bad matchup or just
been demoted, Penix could be your answer.
Rush is coming off his best fantasy total of the season after
throwing for a career-high three touchdowns passes against Carolina.
In Week 16 he faces an even worse statistical pass defense in
the Bucs, who rank 31st in allowing QB fantasy production. He’s
thrown touchdown passes in five consecutive games since getting
shut down in Week 10. He’s worthy of your consideration.
Murray disappointed fantasy owners in the first round of the
playoffs, failing to throw a touchdown pass and not using his
feet to help his production. He gets a chance to redeem himself
against a Panthers team which has yielded a league-high 27 touchdown
passes to opposing quarterbacks, while only picking off seven
passes. It’s time for Murray to shine.
With two single-digit games in the last three contests, there
is no way you can trust Brock Purdy against a good defense like
the Dolphins. He wasn’t good against Buffalo, he was horrible
Thursday night versus the Rams and the Dolphins rank No. 1 versus
opposing QBs allowing just 16.5 FPts/G. He’s missing so
many weapons from a season ago, Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk
and no one can find the 2021 version of Deebo Samuel, so starting
Purdy with a trip to the championship on the line isn’t
worth the risk.
Daniels has been very good all season, except for two games in
Week 10 and 11. Week 11 was against these same Philadelphia Eagles
and he managed just 15.4 points. His running was held in check
(seven attempts for 18 yards) and he failed to crack the 200-yard
passing mark. Despite three very good games in a row, it’s
a big gamble to expect a much different results against the Eagles
(ranked No. 2 versus opposing QBs) this time around.
Herbert has yet to throw more than two touchdown passes in a
game. He’s only cracked the 250-yard passing mark four times
in 14 tries. And he’ll face a Denver defense, ranked seventh,
who held him to 16.1 fantasy points in Week 6. The Chargers offense
is not clicking of late having managed exactly 17 points in three
consecutive games. One caveat, if Patrick Surtain II doesn’t
play due to his ankle injury, Hebert’s prospects improve
greatly.
