Last weekend wasn’t a mirage. Dobbins took control of the Chargers’
running game with an explosive afternoon versus Las Vegas and
will continue against a Panthers team which ranked 27th last season
yielding 25.7 FPts/G and allowed 132 yards and two scores to backs
in the opener.
Harris didn’t do much with 20 carries in the opener (70 yards),
but I liked the distribution between him and Jalen Warren (20-2).
The Broncos ranked 31st last season allowing 27 FPts/G and allowed
Kenneth Walker to rush for more than 100 yards and a score in
Week 1.
Taylor was pedestrian in the first game of the season with 48
yards and a score on just 16 carries, but I expect a bigger workload
against the Packers who allowed Barkley to run wild in Brazil.
No other Colts running back saw a carry in the opener, so it’s
just Taylor and quarterback Anthony Richardson to compete for
rushing touchdowns.
OK, you aren’t going to sit Hall in season-long leagues
because you paid too much to sit him, but in daily he isn’t
a good play against a tough Titans’ run defense. In 2023,
they ranked sixth against opposing RBs and allowed just eight
rushing touchdowns. They held the Bears backs to 44 yards on 14
carries in Week 1. Meanwhile, the Jets offense is still looking
for its footing after a tough night in San Francisco on Monday.
A short workweek won’t help either.
The Saints were a top-10 defense against the run last season
and dominated the Panthers in the opener allowing just 43 yards
on 15 carries. This is not All-Pro Zeke, this is can I keep getting
a paycheck Zeke, who shares the time with young Rico Dowdle. Elliott
will be too touchdown dependent this season for my liking and
the Saints allowed just seven last season.
Moss “dominated” the Bengals backfield out-rushing
Chase Brown (9-3) and out-targeting him too (4-3). But the Chiefs
ranked No.10 against the run last season and kept Derrick Henry
under control in the opener (while allowing Lamar Jackson to run
wild). The Chiefs will put up 30+ points therefore the Cincinnati
offense will be more Joe Burrow throwing to his receivers and
running the ball.
