Anyone have Mike Martz's number? I really need to know Marshall's
status. After a 3-0 start my team is in jeopardy after last night,
I just hope he is OK. Who I am kidding? I just hope he plays, as
a most fantasy footballers, I am shallow and don't really think
of the possible pain he may be going through. I just want him back
on the field. Hopefully, if you read my sleeper
article from August, you Faulk owners took a chance on Lamar
Gordon. I, on the other hand, did not, since Candidate was already
taken in my league, so I gambled that McAllister would go down first,
and took Curtis Keaton. Anyway, enough of my crying and on to the
Week 3 recap. I had a much stronger week
than in the past, and as the league gets into a flow, you can start
to see the real strengths and weaknesses of the teams.
Best
QB Tom Brady vs. Kansas City
(39/54, 410 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT)
He is AWESOME, that's all I have to say.
QB Rodney Peete vs. Minnesota
(20/30, 221 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT)
While his numbers aren't overly impressive, they are consistent.
If you lack depth at QB, he is turning into a viable option.
RB Tiki Barber vs. Seattle
(21 rushes, 50 yards, 7 catches, 59 yards)
His receiving totals, made up for his sub-par rushing performance.
But all in all, it was a decent day.
RB James Stewart vs. Green Bay
(14 rushes, 88 yards, 2 catches, 56 yards, 1 TD)
I deserve this one. An average day turned into a stellar one,
when he scored on a late 52-yard screen in the 4th quarter.
WR Curtis Conway vs. Arizona
(7 catches, 92 yards)
Another solid performance from Conway who is showing that he is
not a fading veteran. In fact, if he stays healthy, he could be
a top 15 wide out.
WR Marty Booker vs. New Orleans
(8 catches, 97 yards, 1 TD)
Marcus who? How easily the oft-injured Robinson is forgotten,
with this star on the rise.
TE Shannon Sharpe vs. Buffalo
(Nothing)
I guess I was way off here, but you can't expect much when the
ball is only thrown your way 2 times.
TE Wesley Walls vs. Minnesota
(4 catches, 36 yards)
Not bad numbers considering that Peete spread the ball around
and gave 5 receivers at least 2 receptions.
Average
QB Brett Favre vs. Detroit
(31/47 357 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT)
A strong game that was largely due to the incorporation of his
big target from last year, Bubba Franks. Maybe this will be a
sign of things to come.
QB Brian Griese vs. Buffalo
(19/31, 211 yards, 2 TD)
He was virtually error free, while leading his team to another
win.
RB Corey Dillon vs. Atlanta
(18 carries, 66 yards, 3 catches, 15 yards)
Average is the perfect word for this performance. Maybe the switch
to Kitna will help him.
RB Deuce McAllister vs. Chicago
(17 rushes, 45 yards, 4 catches, 42 yards)
While he didn't get into the end zone, he did show his veritably
by flashing his receiving ability.
WR Chris Chambers vs. New York Jets
(4 catches, 33 yards)
That's it! Maybe if I take him off my list he'll finally break
out of this mediocrity.
WR Keyshawn Johnson vs. St. Louis
(4 catches, 59 yards)
He wasn't a factor after his drive-saving catch in the second
quarter. Three games - no TD's, where have I seen this before?
TE Alge Crumpler vs. Cincinnati
(1 catch, 15 yards)
He was a non-factor in the balanced attack that picked apart the
Bengal's defense.
TE Eric Johnson vs. Washington
(3 catches, 20 yards)
The numbers don't look great, but with the attack of the stomach
virus on the passing game, he did account for nearly 1/5th of
the yardage. Once Garcia went down, the Niners ran most of the
game.
Worst
QB Jake Plummer vs. San Diego
(16/36, 229 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT)
His respectable fantasy numbers are only due to the late drive
that was capped off by a 31 yard TD to Marcel Shipp. He was in
trouble all day long.
QB Quincy Carter vs. Philadelphia
(21/35, 201 yards, 1 INT)
Quincy probably sees the Philadelphia sky in his sleep, since
he was on his back 4 times against one of the top defenses of
the league.
RB Marshall Faulk vs. Tampa Bay
(6 rushes, 9 yards, 1 TD, 2 catches, 27 yards)
Let us just pray.
RB Priest Holmes vs. New England
(30 rushes, 180 yards, 2 TD, 5 catches, 18 yards, 1 TD)
O.K., so he didn't have trouble finding running room, in fact
he made the defense look like Swiss cheese.
WR Donte' Stallworth vs. Chicago
(4 catches, 43 yards, 1 TD)
If it weren't for his late 29-yard TD catch, he was shut down.
Yet his score was impressive.
WR Marvin Harrison vs. Houston
(8 catches, 110 yards)
I will call this a half-win. He did put up nice yardage, but the
Texans kept him out of the end zone.
TE Jay Riemersma vs. Denver
(4 catches, 44 yards)
He was another player to benefit from a late drive to make his
stats look decent, but the final numbers are all that counts in
our game.
TE Freddie Jones vs. San Diego
(5 catches, 39 yards)
It is nice to finally see him involved.
