|An upper-percentile speed with high-level burst scores, rookie Brandon Aiyuk has been on the fantasy radar as he could potentially fill the void left by Samuel - if Deebo does miss games. A four-year junior college transfer who didn't break out until N'Keal Harry left for the NFL, Aiyuk profiles more as a second option in an NFL offense than a first one, but he still has the highest upside of any wide receiver in this offense other than Samuel.
The 49ers reportedly had Aiyuk as their top-ranked wide receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft class and they selected him with their first round draft pick, so there's plenty of reason to believe that the team will be excited to deploy him as early as this season. However, given the current state of affairs with the health concerns that are threatening training camps throughout the league, there's a fair chance that Aiyuk takes a while to break out - or never breaks out at all - in his rookie season. Still, his price is currently quite low in fantasy drafts so it's worth giving him a chance on your roster with one of your final draft picks.
| Brandon Aiyuk done for the year|
By: Doug Orth | Mon Dec 28, 7:00 pm
|49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk suffered a high ankle sprain in Saturday's game. OT Trent Williams has a sprained elbow. Both will miss the season finale. (ESPN - Nick Wagoner)|
FFToday's Take: Aiyuk wraps up his banner rookie campaign with 60 catches and seven total touchdowns despite playing in only 12 games. He proved more than capable of lighting up defenses despite average quarterback play and figures to be a hot commodity in 2021 redrafts as a result, even with the returns of Deebo Samuel and George Kittle. Aiyuk figures to be ranked as a WR2, but he should be viewed as a high-upside WR3 when everyone is healthy.

Surgery likely for Mullens

FFToday's Take: The 49ers are in a bad situation at QB and will likely have to pluck a QB off another team's practice squad in order to have a backup this week against the Cardinals as Josh Johnson has been placed on the COVID-19 list. This is a putting a wet blanket on the fantasy prospects of Brandon Aiyuk and Kendrick Bourne.
| Deebo Samuel could miss multiple games|
Strained hamstring on first touch of Week 14
By: Doug Orth | Mon Dec 14, 7:50 pm
|49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said WR Deebo Samuel will be "out awhile" with his hamstring strain. He didn't want to put a timeline on it. (ESPN - Nick Wagoner)|
FFToday's Take: Not good. With only two weeks left to play in most fantasy leagues, owners may need to cut ties with Samuel if head coach Kyle Shanahan expands on the seriousneess of his receiver's injury. Considering how tricky hamstring injuries can be and the slim odds the 49ers have for making the playoffs now, he may sit for the rest of the season. Brandon Aiyuk stepped up with 10 catches against Washington and can be considered a must-start in Week 15 versus the Dallas Cowboys.
