| Rapoport: Justin Herbert "likely" to start in Week 3|
Chargers impressed by rookie QB, Tyrod Taylor not ready to return
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Wed Sep 23, 10:44 am
|Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) on Twitter:
"From @GMFB: The #Chargers QB situation should come into focus this week, as it would be a quick recovery for Tyrod Taylor to return for Week 3. Could be another week of Justin Herbert." (Twitter/NFL Network)|
FFToday's Take: The Chargers running game has been looking pretty sharp, so they may not need either Taylor or Herbert that much this week against the Panthers. But deep-leaguers are looking more and more like they can safely deploy Herbert as a low-upside QB2 in Week 3.
|Tyrod Taylor to start "most" games for Chargers|
Journeyman QB will take the reins as Justin Herbert develops
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Wed Sep 2, 9:28 am
|Daniel Popper (@danielrpopper) on Twitter: "These [HBO's Hard Knocks] episodes are providing great context on why Tyrod Taylor will be starting most, if not all, of the games this season. Justin Herbert admits that sometimes the amount of information “catches up” to him. A huge jump from Pac-12 to NFL, especially with no OTAs/minicamp." (Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Looks like Taylor gets the early nod while Herbert makes the adjustment to the NFL. Taylor can be a serviceable fantasy backup and streamer, but he's not a priority in redrafts this year.
| Mike Williams week-to-week with shoulder injury|
Status for Week 1 not yet determined
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Aug 24, 10:42 am
|#Chargers WR Mike Williams, who left practice with his arm hanging, was diagnosed with a shoulder sprain and is considered week-to-week, source said. His collarbone is intact. At this point, his return to play timeline - and status for the opener -- is not yet determined. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Williams has lost some of his fantasy appeal this season with Tyrod Taylor and rookie Justin Herbert under center. Joe Reed, Jalen Guyton and K.J. Hill will pick up the slack, but for now, the fantasy pass-catching options for the Chargers are limited to Keenan Allen and tight end Hunter Henry.
