Injury Deebo Samuel likely to miss next game or two
Groin strain
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 29, 8:10 pm

San Francisco
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan with following injury update: WR Deebo Samuel (groin) -- It's a strain. Expected to miss 1-2 weeks. (ESPN - Nick Wagoner)

FFToday's Take: This is pretty much the best-case scenario for Samuel, who has mostly been able to avoid or play through the injuries that hampered him so often in his first two seasons. Since Samuel was essentially working as the change-of-pace back for Elijah Mitchell in recent weeks, it is now fair to wonder if his touches will be given to Kyle Juszczyk, JaMycal Hasty (if he can shake his nagging ankle injury) or Jeff Wilson. Look for Juszczyk to see the most work among the non-Mitchell backs in Week 13 versus the Seahawks.

Injury Elijah Mitchell expected to play in Week 12
Finger and rib injuriues
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 28, 7:00 am

San Francisco
49ers’ RB Elijah Mitchell, listed as questionable for Sunday due to rib and finger injuries, is expected to play vs. the Vikings, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Mitchell will shift Jeff Wilson into a backup role but it's unclear how the workload will be shared between the two 49ers' running backs. Mitchell is more of a Flex option than a RB2 given the uncertainty.

Injury 49ers rule out JaMycal Hasty, Elijah Mitchell Questionable
Finger injury for Mitchell
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 26, 5:00 pm

San Francisco
#49ers injury report for Week 12 vs. Vikings: OUT-RB JaMycal Hasty (ankle) Doubtful-DL Maurice Hurst (calf) Questionable-RB Elijah Mitchell (rib, finger) (Matt Maiocco on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Mitchell was able to practice on Friday which is key for him being active on Sunday. Head coach Kyle Shanahan did say that the team "will be able to protect Mitchell's broken finger". He'll likely be a gametime decision but it sounds like he's trending towards playing. Jeff Wilson will fill the lead back role if Mitchell sits.

Injury RB Elijah Mitchell listed as Doubtful
Finger injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 19, 3:26 pm

San Francisco
#49ers injury report vs. Jaguars OUT: RB JaMycal Hasty (ankle), DL Maurice Hurst (calf) Doubtful: RB Elijah Mitchell (rib, finger) *S Jaquiski Tartt, LB Dre Greenlaw likely could be activated off IR (Matt Maiocco on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: With Hasty ruled out, the 49ers will likely start Jeff Wilson and have Trey Sermon active as the backup. FB Kyle Juszczyk should also see an increased role in the passing game. Wilson becomes a solid RB2 option this week against the Jaguars who are middle of the pack (20th) against the run.

Injury Deebo Samuel, Elijah Mitchell expected to play
Both could be limited
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 7, 7:00 am

San Francisco
49ers’ RB Elijah Mitchell (rib) and WR Deebo Samuel (calf), each listed as questionable for Sunday, both are expected to play vs. Cardinals, per sources. But team also uncertain how long each player will be able to go, and is hoping there are no setbacks. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Deebo's calf injury got worse after last week's game making him a risky fantasy play in Week 9. The 49ers activated Jeff Wilson off IR this week making the running back room more crowded. Both players, along with tight end George Kittle could be limited against Arizona.

Injury Elijah Mitchell dealing with rib issue
Coming off season-high 137 yards rushing in Week 8
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 1, 11:55 pm

San Francisco
Shanahan said Elijah Mitchell emerged from the game with a rib injury. Said the rookie runner will be limited in practice on Wednesday. (The Athletic - Matt Barrows)

FFToday's Take: It does not sound as if Mitchell is in much danger of missing Week 9 against the Cardinals. The rookie is the unquestioned early-down back for HC Kyle Shanahan and should remain that way for the foreseeable future, although Jeff Wilson is expected to return to practice this week. PFF noted that 135 of Mitchell's 137 yards in Week 8 came after contact, which speaks to how well he is running at the moment. After tough upcoming games against the Cardinals and Rams, few running backs have a more favorable schedule than Mitchell the rest of the way.

Injury Trey Lance to start, George Kittle Doubtful
Jimmy Garoppolo ruled Out
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 8, 4:22 pm

San Francisco
#49ers coach Kyle Shanahan makes it official: Rookie QB Trey Lance will start Sunday at the Arizona Cardinals with Jimmy Garoppolo (calf) ruled out. George Kittle is doubtful. (Matt Maiocco on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Garoppolo will Week 5 with his calf injury while Kittle is out with a calf injury of his own. Nate Sudfeld will be Lance's backup. With Kittle out, the 49ers are going to lacking in the receiving department but are expected to have running back Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) back on the field. Lance's rushing ability makes him QB2 viable but he'll need some help from his supporting cast to hit a QB1 ceiling.

Injury Kittle expected to play, Elijah Mitchell expected to sit
Missed practice Wednesday and Thursday
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Oct 3, 7:15 am

San Francisco
49ers’ TE George Kittle, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a calf injury, will play vs. the Seahawks, per source. 49ers’ RB Elijah Mitchell, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a shoulder injury, will be out Sunday vs. the Seahawks, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Kittle was limited in practice Friday but should be good to go this afternoon against Seattle. He's yet to find the endzone in 2021 but did have 9 targets last week (7-92) against the Packers. With Mitchell being out, Trey Sermon should see the bulk of running back touches but it's difficult to project him as anything more than a low-end RB2 given his low usage last week in the same role.

Injury Trey Sermon expected to start
Elijah Mitchell Doubtful, Kerryon Johnson added from practice squad
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Sep 25, 11:30 am

San Francisco
#49ers injury report for Week 3 vs, #Packers OUT-RB JaMycal Hasty (ankle), DT Kevin Givens (ankle) Doubtful: RB Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) Questionable: DE Arik Armstead (adductor), DT Javon Kinlaw (knee), CB Emmanuel Moseley (knee) RB Trey Sermon (concussion) is OK. (Matt Maiocco on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Sermon is expected to start while Kerryon Johnson has been activated from the practice squad. The 49ers have been decimated at the running back position which included Elijah Mitchell who is listed as Doubtful. Sermon is a viable Flex option in Week 3.

Injury Raheem Mostert likely out two months
Torn knee cartilage
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 13, 8:00 pm

San Francisco
Raheem Mostert will go on IR for approximately eight weeks with torn knee cartilage. (NBCS Bay Area - Matt Maiocco)

FFToday's Take: It's hard to pin something like this specific injury to anything Mostert did wrong, but his injury history and running style have long made him a risky option for fantasy. Elijah Mitchell ran for over 100 yards in his pro debut, but that after Trey Sermon was a healthy scratch. Did Sermon fall down the depth chart that quickly or was he scratched because Mostert started and Mitchell and JaMycal Hasty offered more value on special teams? Either way, Mitchell figures to the top priority on waivers for many fantasy squads this week.
