2023 Outlook
Depth Chart
The receiver room in Green Bay has been totally remade in the last few seasons with all of the veteran mainstays gone from the roster. Not a single receiver remains on the team from 2021, as the last two drafts have restocked the receiver room. Watson leads the youth movement as currently the most accomplished and highest ceiling player on the offense. Although he flashed his tantalizing physical gifts during brief stretches of his rookie year, there were plenty of duds, especially the first half of the year. After a monster 4-107-3 performance in a win against Dallas in Week 10, Aaron Rodgers finally felt comfortable targeting Watson in big spots. He saw no fewer than 5 targets along the way, and his stretch from Week 10 to Week 13 likely clinched playoff berths for fantasy owners patient enough to hold on to some shares of the rookie.

Vaulting to the WR1 and alpha receiver on the offense automatically puts Watson in the fantasy spotlight. With a year of experience under his belt, Watson should be able to play faster this season, and expand his route tree. The move to Love is certainly a downgrade in quarterback play, but it's very likely the duo has been able to build chemistry during their work as backups and now franchise cornerstones. His speed makes him deadly downfield, but it's his 6'4'' frame, and better understanding of red zone concepts that make him a threat for double digit touchdowns. As long as Love doesn't totally fall flat, Watson has serious boom potential in this offense. He has standard league WR1 potential at a WR2 price.

Injury Packers list Aaron Jones as Questionable for Week 5
limited in practice all week
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Oct 7, 2:57 pm

Green Bay Packers
Packers are listing RB Aaron Jones and CB Jaire Alexander as questionable for Monday night's game vs. the Raiders. (Adam Schefter on X)

FFToday's Take: After being limited in snaps last week, Jones was limited in practice all week while fellow hamstring sufferer Christian Watson is not listed on the injury report. Expect Jones to be out there Monday night against the Raiders but his touches could once again be limited.

Injury Aaron Jones, Christian Watson could return in Week 4
Both players have been sidelined by hamstring injuries
By: Doug Orth | Tue Sep 26, 11:55 pm

Green Bay Packers
It sounds like the Packers should have two of their key weapons back on the field for Thursday night’s game against the Lions. Via multiple reporters, receiver Christian Watson said, “That’s the plan” when asked if he was playing in Week 4. Watson has missed the first three games of the season with a hamstring injury. Receiver Romeo Doubs also told reporters that running back Aaron Jones will also return from his hamstring injury this week. (PFT - Michael David Smith)

FFToday's Take: Jones sounds as if he is closer to a return than Watson, if only because the former was looking good in warmups and on the fence to play in Week 3. Watson's return could take the Packers' passing game to the next level, which will be critical against a Detroit defense that has been decent against fantasy receivers. Consider Jones a solid fantasy RB2 against a tougher-than-expected run defense and Watson a high-upside WR3 - one that could be on a snap count - against Detroit.

Green Bay Packers
Packers’ RB Aaron Jones, WR Christian Watson and OT David Bakhtiari are inactive today vs. the Saints. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Packers will be once again down their best two offensive weapons with hamstring injuries. AJ Dillon has not looked good this season but should see 15 to 18 touches against the Saints. Romeo Doubs and Jayden should be the two receivers for Jordan Love.

Injury Aaron Jones, Christian Watson not expected to play
Key Packers expected to sit Week 2
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Sep 16, 11:45 pm

Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers will likely be without two of their top offensive players when they take on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Running back Aaron Jones and wide receiver Christian Watson, both listed as questionable for the game, are expected to be sidelined with hamstring injuries, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Watson was the only one of the duo to get in a limited session on Friday. Green Bay will be short-handed in their matchup against the Falcons. Expect AJ Dillon to handle the bulk of the running back work. He's a viable RB2 based on volume. Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed should be the top two targets at wide receiver for Jordan Love but both are nothing more than Flex options.

Injury Aaron Jones, Christian Watson miss practice Thursday
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Sep 14, 1:14 pm

Green Bay Packers
Quay Walker (concussion) is still in the protocol, but he’s progressed to the point where he’s going through some drills. Aaron Jones (hamstring) had a helmet but stayed inside to rehab. Christian Watson (hamstring) also rehabbing. No David Bakhtiari per usual practice plan. (Rob Demovsky on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Injury of the year thus far is the hamstring. Both Watson and Jones are suffering from it, and both are in doubt for Week 2. If Jones misses, the Packers will likely lean on AJ Dillon who hasn't been a great fantasy asset lately but should get enough volume to be a Flex option.

Injury Christian Watson optimistic for Week 2
Hamstring injury sidelined him for the opener
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 11, 4:40 pm

Green Bay Packers
Christian Watson just spoke for a couple of minutes. He said there’s “a lot better chance” he plays Sunday in Atlanta than entering yesterday’s game but that he’s still taking it day by day. To his knowledge, he said, an IR stint has never been a possibility. (The Athletic - Matt Schneidman)

FFToday's Take: At this point, fantasy managers should consider Watson highly questionable for Week 2 - at least until he logs a full practice. Romeo Doubs had a pair of touchdowns in his absence in the opener and would stand to benefit the most again if Watson is sidelined. With that said, the Falcons - and namely A.J. Terrell - are likely to provide much more resistance than the Bears did in WEek 1. If Watson plays, he should be considered a high-upside WR3 option.

Injury Romeo Doubs, expected to play but be limited

Green Bay Packers
Packers’ WR Romeo Doubs, listed as questionable for today’s game due to a hamstring injury, is expected to play vs. the Bears but likely in a limited fashion, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Packers are struggling at receiver heading into Week 1 with Christian Watson missing this game with a hamstring injury of his own. Jayden Reed is squarely in play as DFS punt option and Samori Toure should see extended action as well. Both of these guys are shaky Flex options in redraft leagues.

Injury Christian Watson Out for Wk 1, Doubs listed as Questionable
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 8, 2:42 pm

Green Bay Packers
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Christian Watson is OUT, and Romeo Doubs is questionable. On Watson, LaFleur said he doesn't think it's going to be a 3-4 week thing but rather just week-to-week. (Rob Demovsky on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Doubs got in limited practices the last two days. If he can't go, the Packers will be rolling out Jayden Reed, Samori Toure and Dontayvion Wicks at receiver... two of which are rookies. Expect to see a lot of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon for Green Bay against the Bears.

Injury Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs miss practice Wednesday
Hamstring injuries
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Sep 6, 5:30 pm

Green Bay Packers
#Packers are without their top two receivers in their first practice of Week 1. Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs not on the field today. Watson ride a stationary bike. Doubs went through stretches but not individual drills. (Ryan Wood on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Both starting receivers for the Packers are dealing with hamstring injuries leading up to Week 1. Both were officially listed as DNP on Wednesday. Not great. We'll follow their status and practice reports as the week goes on and hopefully we'll get more certainty by Friday afternoon.
