Shaheed was another Saints rookie receiver who defied expectations last season. New Orleans rotated a plethora of options attempting to fill the Michael Thomas void, but eventually Shaheed carved out his role as an explosive threat with a high aDOT. Sure, his No. 73 fantasy rank didn't knock your socks off, but he only started six games (played 13 total), hauling in 28 receptions for 488 yards and two touchdowns. His yards per catch numbers were solid (17.4), all on low target volume (34) which is quite impressive.
He's shaping up to be the third wide receiver once again in 2023 but we should expect his numbers to rise with more play volume. Still, the return of Michael Thomas will keep Shaheed relegated to the final rounds of most fantasy drafts and he'll likely need an injury to either Olave or Thomas to become a reliable weekly starter.

FFToday's Take: Hill will be a big loss for the Saints offense who is already down wide receivers Michael Thomas and Rashid Shaheed. Chris Olave is dealing with an illness but expected to play. Expect a lot of Alvin Kamara in this game with Derek Carr at quarterback. Johnson is moderately interesting as a TE2 if you're in a desperate situation at the position.

FFToday's Take: With that said, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football believes Shaheed will not play this week. This injury comes at an inopportune for the Saints after they lost Chris Olave to a concussion in the same game and recently placed Michael Thomas on IR. Fantasy managers should not be surprised if New Orleans relies very heavily on Alvin Kamara and Taysom Hill in Week 13 against the Lions.

FFToday's Take: HC Dennis Allen hinted at this when he told reporters last week that Thomas was dealing with a significant injury. His absence figures to give Chris Olave more opportunities at the very least, although rookie A.T. Perry could benefit the most from a fantasy perspective if he replaces Thomas in the starting lineup. It is also possible Rashid Shaheed would have a slightly higher floor as well.
