2024 Outlook
Depth Chart
The Colts selected Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, with the 52nd (Round 2) pick of the 2024 draft. Heading into the draft, there were conflicting views on Mitchell from many analysts. Some viewed him as a Round 1 talent - an athletic freak, featuring a long frame and explosive 4.34 speed. However, he lacked the polish in route running and contested catch ability that many teams were looking for. Ultimately, he has the kind of athletic profile that is worth taking a stab at in Round 2.

Mitchell will slot in as a deep threat for the Colts. He will have to compete with Alec Pierce for this role but Mitchell will certainly be featured in this offense in some capacity. A rotation with Pierce or a full-time role for Mitchell are both realistic outcomes.

Mitchell has the profile to deliver some big plays and can certainly do this with Anthony Richardson's cannon for an arm. He can be a late-round upside play in drafts but the red flags in his prospect profile should keep drafters from getting too aggressive.

Injury Michael Pittman Jr. out multiple weeks with back injury
Colts injuries are mounting
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Oct 9, 5:38 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Colts WR Michael Pittman Jr. is dealing with a back injury that is now expected to sideline him multiple weeks, per sources. Injured reserve is an option. (Adam Schefter on X)

FFToday's Take: The Colts are dealing with injuries to Anthony Richardson, Jonathan Taylor and now Pittman heading into Week 6. Josh Downs (toe) missed practice on Wednesday, rookie Adonai Mitchell and Alec Pierce are likely to be the top three receivers while Pittman is out. Assuming he plays, and Joe Flacco starts at QB, Downs is an easy WR2 this week against the Titans.

Injury Josh Downs ruled Out for Week 1
Missed practice all week
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 6, 1:02 pm

Indianapolis Colts
The Colts on Friday ruled out wide receiver Josh Downs (ankle) for their Week 1 game against the Houston Texans on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium. Downs, who sustained an ankle injury during an Aug. 7 training camp practice, did not participate in practice this week. Head coach Shane Steichen said Downs is progressing well and added the team hopes to have him back sooner rather than later. (Colts.com)

FFToday's Take: Downs is going to have to get some practice time in before getting on the field on Sunday's. Expect rookie Adonai Mitchell and Alec Pierce to have a larger role in Downs' absence but both are nothing more than flex options in an offense that may have limited pass attempts.
