Predicted Score: Redskins 23, Seahawks 20
Washington: One of the more interesting games this wildcard weekend will be played in Seattle as the Redskins, riding a four-game winning streak, meet the Seahawks who coasted to their fourth-straight NFC West title. Behind the play of backup QB Todd Collins (64% competition rate, 5 TDs, 0 INTs) and a defensive hitting their stride, Washington finds itself in the playoffs for the second time in three years. Collins will remain under center for this game as Jason Campbell (dislocated kneecap), is not healthy enough for action. Clinton Ports is healthy, for a change, and running well scoring four touchdowns while averaging 23 carries and 102 yards in his last three games. With the Seahawks struggling a bit, the momentum and emotion flowing through the Redskin team may be enough to carry them to victory on Saturday.
- Start: RB Clinton Portis, TE Chris Cooley
- Consider: WR Santana Moss, Redskins D/ST
- Sit: QB Todd Collins WR Antwaan Randle El, RB Ladell Betts
Seattle: The Seahawks are coming off two disappointing loses in recent weeks to Atlanta and Carolina. Even if you give them a pass on their Week 17 debacle (losing 44-41 to the Falcons) that loss to Carolina sticks out like a sore thumb and their inability to run the ball will come back to haunt them at some point this postseason… likely this week against a defense that's currently playing like a top-five defense in the league. Washington should have no problem stopping Alexander and the running game, heck the Seattle running game is perfectly capable of stopping themselves, playing right into the hands of Gregg Williams and his blitzing schemes. There's no question Seattle will have a decided home-field advantage and they have won three straight playoff games at Qwest Field but a one-dimensional offense isn't going to cut it against the Redskins-D… not this week.
- Start: QB Matt Hasselbeck, WR Bobby Engram
- Consider: RB Shaun Alexander, WR Nate Burleson, WR Deion Branch, K Josh Brown
- Sit: TE Marcus Pollard, Seahawks D/ST
