I know it’s one game, and he’s a rookie with just north of a dozen
NFL snaps on his resume, but the fact remains that this Giants offense
is beyond desperate for a threat in the passing game. This coaching
staff has had a plan for Robinson since making him a 2nd round selection,
and his snaps should increase this week. With all eyes on Barkley,
Robinson could make some noise darting around a Jacksonville secondary
that gave up big weeks to slot receivers Curtis Samuel, Ashton Dulin,
and Josh Palmer.
Metcalf’s 2022 season has become incredibly matchup dependent.
In the three games against bottom tier secondaries, he’s flashed
that dominant form of 2020, but against the likes of Denver, San
Fran, and Arizona, he’s struggled to reach 40 yards. The Chargers
fall somewhere in the middle, so I’m going to gamble on Metcalf’s
talent, and the Seahawks ability to slow Khalil Mack.
Coming off his most receptions (6) since Week 11 of 2021, Boyd
could play a significant role this week with both Tee Higgins,
Hayden Hurst and maybe even Ja’Marr Chase banged up. The Bengals
have seemed to find their offensive stride lately and Boyd might
be a sneaky WR3 play in Week 7.
Olave is off to a tremendous start to his rookie season and was
the anchor of the Saints passing attack before missing Week 6
with a concussion. But quarterback woes and an incredibly stingy
Cardinal secondary (no receiver has scored a touchdown since Week
2 and only one has topped 80 yards) await Thursday night. This
is a crippling bye week, so he’s impossible to sit, but
temper expectations.
Jets Receivers @ DEN
While the Denver offense has been a travesty, the defense, especially
the secondary has been a fantasy black hole for opposing receivers.
Only Brandon Aiyuk in Week 3 has found the endzone, and only two
receivers have surpassed 60 yards. The Jets have turned ultra
conservative since the return of Zach Wilson, protecting a banged
up offensive line by running the ball and completing only 24 passes
the last two weeks combined.
Patriots WRs vs CHI (Mon)
Another position group I want to avoid this week is the Patriots
receivers. While Bailey Zappe has played well, the passing game
has been very conservative under the rookie and Mac Jones wasn’t
exactly lighting the world up when he was healthy. Rookie 5th
rounder Tyquan Thornton has impressed in his first NFL action,
but vets Jakobi Meyers and DeVante Parker are still the main cogs
in the passing machine. Outside of the backfield, no other skill
position player on this offense is trustworthy.
