Grab a Helmet

Brian Thomas Jr.

1) Brian Thomas Jr. vs. Minnesota

Thomas has enormous talent, but like many rookies is inconsistent in his first season. He’s scored five times, but only cracked 100 receiving yards one time. In Week 10 he has a good chance to do both. The Vikings pass defense has allowed 43.6 FPts/G to opposing wideouts and with Christian Kirk injured, Thomas figures to see a lot more volume given the other options are Gabe Davis and Parker Washington.

2) Tank Dell vs. Detroit

The Lions pass defense is third-worse to opposing wideouts. Part of that is teams are always behind because of the explosive Lions offense. Opposing wideouts are producing 42.2 fantasy points and over 200 yards per game. Even if Nico Collins returns, there is still plenty of work available for Dell. Dell saw nine targets last Thursday, despite a horrible day out of C.J. Stroud. The Texans OL will have to block better this time out.

3) Jameson Williams @ Houston

Williams returns from a two-game suspension, so should be rested and ready to go. The Texans have allowed a league-high 14 touchdowns to opposing wide receivers and when Williams gets one, it’s usually a long one. Figure one for Williams and one for Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Grab some Pine

1) Marvin Harrison Jr. vs. New York Jets

Sure, Harrison has all the talent in the world, but he’s still a rookie and been prone to ugly games. He’s produced five games of six points-or-less and four games above 15 fantasy points. But in this one he’ll surely see a lot of All-Pro Sauce Gardner. That should be enough to scare most people away. The Jets also have produced 31 sacks in nine games, so quarterback Kyler Murray may be running more for his life and throwing less.

2) Quentin Johnston vs. Tennessee

Johnston has been a boom or bust receiver this season. He’s scored four touchdowns in six games and has two games above 20 points and three games below seven fantasy points. The Titans have allowed just 108.8 yards to receivers per game and Ladd McConkey figures to get at least half that. It doesn’t leave much for Johnston, Josh Palmer or Jalen Reagor.

3) Any Patriot receiver vs. Chicago

The Bears have allowed the fewest touchdown receptions to opposing wideouts – just four in eight games. None of those have come in Soldier Field. Now add a rookie quarterback, who ran for 95 yards last week and threw for only 206 yards. None of the Patriots receivers are even averaging 10 FPts/G with Demario Douglas leading the way at 9.1 points. Early weather reports call for windy conditions and a chance for rain.
