Everyone wants their quarterback to face the Jaguars in 2024.
They rank 31st in QB fantasy points allowed (26.6 FPts/G). They
have given up 30+ points four times this season and a league-high
19 touchdown passes. Meanwhile, Darnold has been a low-end QB1
this season, but other than bad games against the two New York
teams, he’s been better than that. This game is in Florida,
so we are more than happy to give Darnold the football.
Danny “Dimes” ranks 27th this season in FPts/G (17.3), but a
lot of quarterbacks get healthy when going up against the lowly
Panthers. They have allowed 18 passing touchdowns and 22.3 FPts/G.
Carolina sacks opposing QBs at barely over one per game (1.1).
Therefore, Jones, who has been sacked 27 times already, shouldn’t
have to worry about the pass rush this weekend. He is coming into
this game after his best performance of 2024 – 28.1 fantasy points
against a top-12 Commanders defense. He was accurate and mistake-free
and he added a great rushing line (7-54-1). If you are dealing
with one of the three fantasy-worthy quarterbacks on bye (Jameis
Winston, Jordan Love or Geno Smith), he could be your guy.
After missing six weeks, Tagovailoa has had two games to knock
the rust off. His presence jump-started the running game, but
he’s yet to really get Tyreek Hill or Jaylen Waddle going.
This is the week against the 25th-ranked Rams defense. They are
29th in yards-per attempt (7.2). Tua and Mike McDaniel finally
open up the offense in what should be a high-scoring affair (O/U
50.5).
I know he’s got a stellar 5-1 record as a starter, but
this is not the right place or time for a crazy out-of-the-box
idea. He won games in 2021 and 2022 by not turning the ball over,
using the running game and letting the defense carry the team.
In 2024, the Cowboys have no running game and their defense is
non-existent. After a couple of poor early games, the Eagles defense
led by a young secondary (rookies Quinton Mitchell and Cooper
DeJean) and an improving DL have allowed just one touchdown pass
in their last four games. Also, CeeDee Lamb is banged up. Look
elsewhere.
Murray was ugly last week, his worst performance of the season
- 8.3 fantasy points. Not the best time to face Sauce Gardner
and the Jets. New York has allowed just six passing touchdowns
all season and rank third in QB points allowed (16.1). The only
encouragement I could offer you if you must start Murray is that
the Jets have been vulnerable to running QBs (three rushing touchdowns
in the last four games).
Daniels is everyone’s choice for OROY, but this isn’t
a good matchup for the rookie. The Steelers rank fourth in fantasy
points allowed (16.6) and are even tougher when they go on the
road (14.7 to starters). Also important to note, they have allowed
zero rushing touchdowns and just 56 total rushing yards to eight
opposing QBs while Daniels has produced 7.8 ppg with his legs.
If his running game is limited, so is his ceiling.
