Fantasy Impact: Is Davante Adams Ram Tough?

By Steve Schwarz | 3/10/25

Davane Adams

It was late Sunday night with the 2025 “legal tampering” period about to begin when the Los Angeles Rams made their big move. No, they still haven’t traded wide receiver Cooper Kupp, but they have signed his replacement – free agent wideout Davante Adams.

Adams in Las Vegas and New York Jets

In March 2022 the Green Bay Packers traded Adams to Las Vegas. Adams was still really good. The Raiders weren’t. He spent two years in the desert producing 1,516 yards and 1,144 yards, respectively, and grabbing 22 touchdowns. The calendar turned to 2024 and Adams wasn’t happy with the lack of talent the Raiders had at quarterback and was ready to move on. The team accommodated him, sending him to New York to reunite with former Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. Adams was still good… the Jets weren’t. He produced 854 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games. Adams scored in five of the last six games. At the end of a disappointing 5-12 season, the Jets released both Adams and Rodgers.

Rodgers may have to wait a while to find a new home. Adams has already found his – Sofi Stadium and the Los Angeles Rams.

Adams with the Rams

The addition of Adams to the Rams could elevate the offense to the next level. The wide receiver room already has the “next” superstar receiver in Puka Nacua (2,476 yards and 9 TDs in career 28 games). Now, they bring in a second big body receiver for head coach Sean McVay. He’s here to replace the oft-injured Kupp, who hasn’t been able to stay on the field. Since Kupp’s record-breaking 2021 season (145-1,947-16), he’s missed 19 of 51 games (37%) and played injured in a few others. His 60 yards-per-game since 2023 made the Eastern Washington alum replaceable, and the Rams did.

The Rams offense looks pretty good for next season. They gave the Eagles the most trouble in last year’s playoffs, scoring 22 in the snow and were one play away from beating the soon-to-be champions. They have a Super Bowl winning quarterback (Matthew Stafford), a running back who has cracked 1,100 yards on the ground the past two seasons (Kyren Williams) and Nacua and Adams as wideouts. Perhaps they add a young and talented tight end in the draft. They will be dangerous in 2025.

Conclusion:

Adams wasn’t the problem in New York and he shouldn’t be a problem in Los Angeles. Well, he’ll likely be a problem for opposing defensive backs. His final six games of 2024 he averaged 85 yards and .83 touchdowns per game. Over a 17-game schedule that would be 1,445 yards and 17 touchdowns. No, he likely won’t reach those numbers in 2025. But he has a better quarterback this season than last. At this point in their careers, Stafford is better than Rodgers. Targets, should not be an issue. He averaged 10.3 in Las Vegas and 10.4 targets in New York. He replaces Kupp, who averaged 8.7 over his career and 9.4 over the past five seasons. Workload shouldn’t be an issue. Adams is still just 33-years old and when motivated he can play with anyone. After three seasons, he’s finally back on a contending team. Now, with the correct motivation, a quality quarterback and ample opportunities, Adams should be a top-10 receiver. At the bottom half of the top-10, to be sure, but his fantasy value should be similar to that of Mike Evans, who both averaged just over 17 points-per-game in PPR leagues last season.
