Miami begins the season with a new coach a new QB and well… new players everywhere. What they do have is one of the best defenses in the league, which should keep them close as the players adapt to Cameron's style of offense. Trent Green is on the backside of his career and should help the learning curve but expect plenty of low-scoring, dare I say "boring" games involving the Dolphins this season. The Redskins should have the advantage here playing at home. Even with an unproven QB, Washington's rushing attack is well-established and they have just enough defensive talent to keep Green and the Dolphins passing game befuddled. Break out the coffee & mountain dew for this one.
Predicted Score: Redskins 20, Dolphins 10
Fantasy Focus Miami: After playing head games with Ronnie Brown during the preseason, head coach Cam Cameron has named Brown the starter at running back while hinting that backup Jesse Chatman will see action as well. Look for a 70/30 split with Brown getting the majority of the carries.
Start: TE David Martin
Consider: QB Trent Green, RB Ronnie Brown, WR Chris Chambers
Sit: K Jay Feeley
Washington: Let the official Portis injury watch begin. He missed most of the preseason with tendonitis in his knee and although he is expected to start, there are rumblings out of D.C. that Betts might play a bigger role in the first couple of games to help ease the stress on Portis' fragile little body. The workload given to both backs this week should give us a good indication of just how healthy Clinton really is.
Start: RB Clinton Portis, TE Chris Cooley, WR Santana Moss, Redskins D/ST
Note: Team statistics are shown as the average per game
through Weeks 12 to 17 of the 2006 season after deducting the best
and worst value from the data set. The exception is yards per rush attempt, completion %, yards per
pass completion, yards per pass attempt and the NFL averages, which are each calculated based on
totals through Weeks 12 to 17 with no adjustment.
