Samuel, as the slot receiver in a pass-first offense, has basically
been the Commanders No.2b receiver in 2023. Coming off a season
high 12 targets, and a 9-100-0 line against Dallas, DC should
have to throw early and often in a game against the explosive
Dolphins. With a near certain negative game script, and consistent
volume and production, Curtis is worth a slot as a WR3 or upside
FLEX play.
With Thomas out, and Olave and Shaheed banged up, Atorian (A.T.)
Perry, the rookie 6th rounder from Wake Forest might get a shot
at significant snaps. Productive, with strong measurables coming
out of college, Perry should be at worst 2nd in line for receiver
targets this week against a very beatable Detroit secondary. If
injuries and byes have smashed your roster, and the waiver wire
is barren, Perry is a sneaky play.
I expect this game to be a slug fest with the Niners trying to
spread the Eagles out and run the ball down their throat. Look
for Samuel to be used as a real swiss army knife against the aggressive
Eagle defense as he lines up in the backfield, takes handoffs
on sweeps, and runs a few deep wheel routes. Samuel has two double-digit
fantasy games since returning from injury three weeks ago, so
continue to fire him up.
Despite facing off against a host of elite passing options, the
Jets secondary has yielded the fewest fantasy points to receivers.
Sure, guys like Diggs, Brown, Waddle, and Hill have popped off
at times, lesser humans have gotten gobbled up. Desmond Ridder
is no Mahomes, and I’m sure Arthur Smith just wants to run
the ball 60 times and get out of Jersey mustache intact.
Outside of two blow-up weeks, Hopkins has mostly been a fantasy
dud this season. Despite three scores in Week 8 he’s only
found the endzone one other time, and his volume has sunk to season
low levels as the Titans have turned to the run game to protect
rookie QB Will Levis. His hands and body control are still elite,
but his speed and separation ability have all but evaporated.
After a triumphant return from an early season hamstring injury
with two huge games in Week 5 and 6, Kupp has fallen off the face
of the earth, as he hasn’t been able to even reach five
standard points in any game since then. Additional lower body
injuries and the emergence of Tutu Atwell and Puka Nacua have
given this offense more ways and reasons to spread the ball around.
