With Nakua hobbled, Adams becomes even more of a juicy start against
the pass funnel defense of the Jags. Adams leads the NFL with 13
red zone targets, but has only two receptions and two scores to
show for it. Eventually those numbers have to settle to the mean,
and it gives Adams a strong floor, and potentially high ceiling
in Week 7.
Tampa Receivers @ DET
A friendly offensive scheme, backed by a quarterback playing out
of his mind, any healthy bodies at receiver for Tampa make potential
fantasy options. Mike
Evans could be back, but if he and Egbuka are out another week,
rookies Tez Johnson
and Kameron
Johnson, as well as veteran Sterling
Shepard are worth a look against a heavily depleted Detroit
secondary.
In order for this offense to take the next step, Golden is going
to have to be the alpha receiver the Packers drafted him to be.
Coming out of the bye he had his best day as a pro, catching three
passes for a season high 86 yards. Coach LaFleur continues to
design plays to get the ball in his hands, and it’s only
a matter of time before he has an eruption game. It could be this
week against a short-handed Arizona secondary. Fire Golden up
as an upside WR3.
Meyers may be listed as the WR1 on the depth chart, but he’s
been anything but over the last month. After a 8-97-0 opener,
Meyers has failed to reach 70 yards in a game, and has only 12
receptions for 101 yards total in the last three games. Geno Smith
has floundered, and the offense lacks identity, which is not a
good look going up against a resurgent Kansas City team.
Hunter’s adjustment to the NFL continues to be a work in progress,
as the Jags figure out exactly how to use him. His 64 yards in Week
5 was a high-water mark, as he’s failed to top 50 yards in any other
game. The low point came last week as he piled up an empty four
receptions for 15 yards. There simply isn’t a format where Hunter
is worth starting right now, and frankly, he’s approaching waiver
wire status.
If the Eagles were hoping for a “get right” game
this week, they certainly picked a poor spot. The Vikings are
home and rested off a bye, and deploy the 2nd best pass defense
in the NFL. They allow the fewest fantasy points to the position,
and Smith, as well as the entire Philly passing game, has been
wildly inconsistent this season.
