Outlook: Shaheed was another Saints rookie receiver who defied expectations last season. New Orleans rotated a plethora of options attempting to fill the Michael Thomas void, but eventually Shaheed carved out his role as an explosive threat with a high aDOT. Sure, his No. 73 fantasy rank didn't knock your socks off, but he only started six games (played 13 total), hauling in 28 receptions for 488 yards and two touchdowns. His yards per catch numbers were solid (17.4), all on low target volume (34) which is quite impressive.
He's shaping up to be the third wide receiver once again in 2023 but we should expect his numbers to rise with more play volume. Still, the return of Michael Thomas will keep Shaheed relegated to the final rounds of most fantasy drafts and he'll likely need an injury to either Olave or Thomas to become a reliable weekly starter.

Outlook: DPJ was a pleasant surprise for fantasy owners last year setting career highs across the board. Playing in all 17 games, the former Michigan Wolverine provided the Browns with a solid, if unspectacular option across from Cooper. In weeks 4-15 he proved to be a reliable weekly contributor as a standard league low end WR3. Unfortunately, I do think this is about where DPJ tops out in the NFL, and with the addition of Moore, I can't see much upside to rostering him early in the season.

Outlook: Woods' lone season with the Tennessee Titans in 2022 was the worst of his career as he recorded just 53 receptions for 527 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games (15 as a starter). The player who was once labeled extremely consistent had the 56th-most fantasy points last season with 117.7.
The 31-year-old hopes to return to the standard he saw with the Rams from 2017-2020 (before a season-ending injury derailed his 2021 season), averaging 80.5 receptions for 1017.5 yards and 4.8 touchdowns per year during that span. The Texans have arguably the worst wide receiver corps in the league. Can we expect a rookie quarterback to turn Woods back into the player he used to be? Perhaps, but until we see it, Woods will likely start the season as a late-round or undrafted fantasy football player.

Outlook: The Giants' leader in receiving yards a season ago, Darius Slayton is another player who should be in line to start outside in the New York offense at the beginning of the 2023 season. Slayton's 724 receiving yards on 46 receptions were pretty much in line with what he did as a rookie back in 2019, and then again in 2020.
Four years into his career, it's becoming apparent that Slayton is probably never going to break out as anything more than a three-to-five-catch-per-game player who can play a role in an NFL offense but doesn't provide much for fantasy managers. He hasn't scored more than three touchdowns in any season since his rookie year in 2019 and he hasn't gone over 100 yards in a game since October of 2020.
At this point, Slayton is a roster clog for fantasy managers and really should be avoided during drafts unless you're in deep leagues where you're starting four or more wide receivers. In that case, he's someone who sees enough playing time to justify taking a chance late in your draft. But for most, this is a player to avoid in 2023.

Outlook: To show you just how dire the receiver depth is in Detroit, (make a call to DeAndre Hopkins?) consider the fact that Josh Reynolds is going to be called on to play a ton of meaningful snaps while Williams serves his suspension. Entering his 3rd season with the Lions, the former 4th round pick of the Rams, topped out with a 38-497-3 line on 59 targets last season. The best you can say about him is he's reliable, and has a great rapport with Goff, whom he has been teammates with now for several seasons. He did have a pretty strong start last year, scoring 9+ points in four of the first five weeks, but a midseason injury had him all but disappear down the stretch. This offense spreads the ball around like few others, but I think Reynolds should provide some sneaky value, especially early in the season. Finding a WR3 at (least for a chunk of the season), for a miniscule investment is still a pretty good deal. Don't forget about Reynolds on draft night.

Outlook: Hodgins came to New York halfway through the 2022 season after being largely unutilized in Buffalo. He immediately stepped in and began contributing to his new team, finishing third in receptions on the team amongst wide receivers. Hodgins would finish the season strong, scoring five touchdowns over his final seven games (including playoffs) while averaging almost five receptions per gamer over that stretch.
Now in his first offseason with his new team, Hodgins figures to at least be a part of this bizarre hodge-podge wide receiver depth chart that the Giants are building. With Wan'Dale Robinson and Sterling Shepard recovering from ACL injuries, Hodgins looks to be in line to start the season on the outside, opposite the team's 2022 target leader Darius Slayton.
The draft-day cost of any of these receivers really isn't enough to scare anyone away, but this is a group that looks like it's going to be frustrating to forecast all year. Not only is Daniel Jones an erratic passer, but he really hasn't shown a propensity to key in on any one target in the offense. That makes it very difficult to predict which receiver, if any, will be useful on a week-to-week basis. In the end, though, all we can really do is focus on opportunity and, at least to start the season, Hodgins looks like a good bet to be the WR1 in this offense.
