Game Preview
Mike Krueger

Predicted Score: Redskins 24, Lions 17

Washington: The Redskins are ripe with injuries including Clinton Portis who is recovering from a bruise and a grade 1 sprain of his right knee. He is expected to play. Wide receiver Santana Moss may not be so lucky. He continues to be battle a groin injury, which bothered him so much Wednesday he left the practice field. Keenan McCardell was signed on Monday and because of his familiarity with the offense could actually see the field on Sunday. Although short-handed, the Redskins should be able to run the ball against a horrendous Lions defense and look for Antawaan Randle El and tight end Chris Cooley to be more involved in the passing game with Moss on the sidelines.

  • Start: WR Antwaan Randle El, RB Clinton Portis, TE Chris Cooley,
  • Consider: RB Ladell Betts, QB Jason Campbell, Redskins D/ST
  • Sit: WR Santana Moss

Detroit: The Lions have already matched their win total from last year but face a tough task on the road this week against a Redskins team that's done a decent job against the pass. Carries are being split between Kevin Jones and Tatum Bell rendering each useless especially considering the lack of running the Lions do in the first place. Kitna has been superb completing 71 percent of his passes and Roy Williams is quickly turning into one of the elite receivers in the league. Both are must starts on your fantasy team, but think twice about picking the Lions in your Survivor Pool.

  • Start: QB Jon Kitna, WR Roy Williams, WR Shaun McDonald
  • Consider: WR Mike Furrey
  • Sit: RB Tatum Bell, RB Kevin Jones, WR Calvin Johnson (inj), Lions D/ST, TE Dan Campbell
