Predicted Score: Giants 20, Jets 17
New York Giants: The sudden resurgence of the Giants defense came to a climax last week sacking Donovan McNabb 12 times to tie an NFL record… six coming from defensive end Osi Umenyiora. Now, if Eli Manning can turn around is inconsistent play, the Giants may have something. Manning does have 7 TD tosses but his completion rate is below 60% and carries a mediocre passer rating of 82. If Manning starts out shaky, the Giants should be able to run the ball with Derrick Ward (or Brandon Jacobs) against a Jets defense that is giving up one rushing touchdown per game and made Ronnie Brown (211 yds) look like the second-coming of Marshall Faulk in Week 3.
- Start: QB Eli Manning (shoulder), WR Plaxico Burress, TE Jeremy Shockey, RB Derrick Ward
- Consider: WR Amani Toomer, Giants D/ST
- Sit: RB Brandon Jacobs, WR Steve Smith
New York Jets: Big things were expected by a lot of fantasy folk (your truly included) from Thomas Jones last week. But coming off a 100+ yard perfomance in Week 3 against Miami, Jones laid an egg against the porous rush defense of the Bills. A good matchup gone bad. After witnessing the sack-display by the Giants the Jets will likely try to establish Jones early but risk falling behind if the running game fails again. Chad Pennington should find some moderate success against a mediocre secondary but it will be too little, too late.
- Start: WR Laveranues Coles, WR Jerricho Cotchery
- Consider: QB Chad Pennington, RB Thomas Jones
- Sit: RB Leon Washington, TE Chris Baker
