Game Preview
Mike Krueger
Predicted Score: Cowboys 31, Jets 20
New York Jets: The Jets have been mired in a dismal season up until last week's shocking win over the Steelers, which ended a 6-game losing steak. Nobody saw that coming, at least yours truly didn't and if they pull the double dip this week against the Cowboys I will retire from the prognostication business. The Jets are starting a rookie quarterback (Kellen Clemens), will be without their top receiver (Laveranues Coles) because of an ankle injury and their starting running back, Thomas Jones, hasn't scored a touchdown all year. And they expect to beat the Cowboys? Ain't gonna happen. If you need a sleeper tight end, Chris Baker seems to be a favorite of Clemens. He's caught 8 passes the last two weeks, one for a score, and should see more looks with Coles out of the lineup.
- Start: N/A
- Consider: TE Chris Baker, RB Thomas Jones, WR Jerricho Cotchery
- Sit: QB Kellen Clemens, WR Laveranues Coles RB Leon Washington
Dallas: The Cowboys and their second-rated offense will be on display Thursday against the Jets who rank in the bottom of third of total defense. Dallas is averaging 32.4 points per game and while they'll likely be without wide receiver Patrick Crayton, who missed practice Tuesday with a sprained left ankle, there are plenty of weapons still available for Tony Romo. Terrell Owens has already topped the 1000-yd mark for the season to go along with 12 touchdowns. Tight end Jason Witten is having a career year (55-695-5) and the committee approach at running back is keeping both Jones and Barber fresh. Dallas is 25-14 on Thanksgiving and while a look-ahead matchup looms with the Packers next week, the fresh reminder of Pittsburgh's loss to the Jets a week ago should keep Dallas' attention.
- Start: QB Tony Romo, WR Terrell Owens, TE Jason Witten
- Consider: RB Marion Barber, RB Julius Jones, Cowboys D/ST
- Sit: WR Patrick Crayton, WR Terry Glenn (inj)
