Predicted Score: Patriots 31, Giants 20
Giants: The Giants lost to the New England (38-35) in Week 17 nearly ruining the Pats perfect season. They get another chance to spoil "19-0" in the biggest game of the year. New York's magical run over the last month has been highlighted by the play of quarterback Eli Manning who's thrown 8 TDs and only 1 INT in his last four games...a trend that must remain steady if the Giants are to pull off the upset. The Patriots scored on 53% of their drives this season, which puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the opposing team so limiting penalties and taking care of the ball will be critical for Manning. Perhaps handing off to Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw will be the plan. Bradshaw missed the Week 17 matchup with a calf injury but could be a key factor in Sunday's game. He's averaging 4.2 yards-per-carry during the playoffs and provides a nice compliment to the bruising Brandon Jacobs. Thirty-eight to forty carries between these two could make for a Giants victory, otherwise...
- Start: QB Eli Manning, WR Plaxico Burress, TE Kevin Boss
- Consider: RB Brandon Jacobs, RB Ahmad Bradshaw, WR Amani Toomer
- Sit: Giants D/ST, WR Steve Smith
Patriots: ...you'll get the status quo from the Patriots... another victory. It's 18 wins and counting for New England with only one game standing between them and a perfect season - a remarkable achievement that can only be comprised, in my opinion, by an injured Tom Brady. His ankle is fine however, and with all the weapons at his disposal, great weather, and a new-found running game with Laurence Maroney this team is poised to let loose. Of course, the Giants defensive line is one of the best in the business and New York's defense as a whole registered 53 sacks during the season, leading the league...a concern, but nothing the Patriots offensive line can't handle. They gave up only one sack in their previous meeting while Brady threw for 356 yards and 2 TDs. New England has too many weapons and has proven throughout the season they have every answer for every question, scheme, or adversity that's come their way. What makes you think this game is going to be any different?
- Start: QB Tom Brady, WR Randy Moss, WR Wes Welker
- Consider: RB Laurence Maroney, TE Ben Watson, Patriots D/ST
- Sit: WR Donte' Stallworth
